Just wanted to pass along some info on this hotel as I stayed there during my SJO visit this month. The Castillo is located about 1.5 blocks west of the SL, an easy 5 minute stroll. I stayed in the Deluxe Room with Kitchenette (room #17)
Pros:
- Very clean and nicely decorated room
- very professional & friendly staff
- nice outside bar that opens in the afternoons til 9pm (with a hot chica as a bartender
)
- never had a problem bringing in any chica
- quiet for sleeping at night
- no families at the hotel during my stay (just some sorted CRT guys)
- Darren (the manager) was great to deal with and always greeted his guests with a smile
- very relaxed environment
- many repeat customers stay frequently
Cons:
- room safe is the older key style which means you hide the key or carry it with you
- breakfast is a little plain but you can slip over to attached Sunny's Bar&Grill for something else
- not many taxi drivers know its location
- box of kleenex in the rooms would be a nice touch
Overall a very good place to stay at. Will definitely stay there again as a repeat customer......gets my 2 thumbs UP
