| Post subject: | Hotel M Review |
Sorry for my delay in posting this review, but I just plain forgot I was going to do so. I stayed at Hotel M during my last visit to SJO from Nov 9-13. As far as I am concerned, the place is awesome! I stayed in the Martini Room at a discounted rate due to a foul-up during the reservation process. This is a Class place that is destined to be one of the top hotels in the SJO area. Just ask them what their future expansion plans are and I think you will agree. The rooms are comfortable, clean and include 32" flat screet HDTV's that have 2 porn channels playing 24 hrs/day. The staff welcoming and accomodating to their guests needs. Engagement by the staff, including Scott and Eric (Mgrs?) is a wonderful addition. I felt no less than like a guest in their home. Friendly and Attractive bartenders doesn't hurt things either. Make sure you get a chance to get to know Karla (AM) and Sandra (PM). Fun company while you sip on a cocktail, or two. The bar is somewhat quiet and there aren't p4p chicas hanging around, but there are plenty of other places in SJO to find that. The place is guest friendly with no fees assessed. Very good food, but the menu is limited to breakfeast, lunch and bar food. Not a menu that will cater to those looking for a nice dinner. Flat screens all over the bar playing a mixture of sports and other shows. If you like 60's and 70's music, just ask Scott. His iPod files are full of good tunes including Janis Joplin, Rolling Stones and other classic Rock artists. The only downside is a real positive, at least as far as I am concerned. It is located in a quiet area behind the San Pedro Mall (10 min from the Gulch), so sleep is not disturbed by all night activities and associated distractions. But getting back to the hotel is somewhat problemmatic, especially if you don't speak the language. The place is so new (3 months), that many of the taxi drivers don't know how to get there. The hotel provides you with a business card with a map on the back, but it doesn't help many of the taxi drivers easily find their way there. Probably some of them intentionally take a wrong turn to get a few extra colones fare....LOL Once I had a handle of how to get back there, it was easy to return. I also met a few ladies at the HDR that thought it was too far to go for an hour. Guess when you want to make Hay, heading up to a room in the HDR or the Prez, affords better repeat friends. The place is a bit expensive by many CRT and SJO standards, but if you decide to stay there, I am certain you will enjoy your stay. I hope this helps those of you who were considering the place, but wanting some first-hand intel. |

| Post subject: | Anybody else stay at the Hotel M? |
Has anybody else stayed at the M? Any reviews? Also, what percent discount could a person negotiate for a 2 month stay? Thanks alot. I am trying to find 2 month luxury accomodations in the city and it is difficult to find a place that does not feel like a hotel, but is well located. |

When I was trying to negotiate a deal I talked with Scott. Given I only have a BMW 330 ci budget for two months and their place is a BMW M6, we couldn't naturally negotiate a long-term deal but I enjoyed talking with him. Also, I solicited feedback and received numerous private messages all positive. I am looking forward to drop by their place for a drink. |
