Anyone have a suggestion for a good hotel in Quepos? Going the thanksgiving weekend. My wing man and I have dates but never been there so don't know where to stay. Not looking for a palace but don't want a DUMP either!! Thanks in advance guys. WEBSITES would be appreciated

HWE,

Best Western Hotel Kamuk is an outstanding choice. Reasonable rates, nice pool area and in the center of town.

If you want to get closer to the beach, there is Casa Verde. Accomodations here consist of rustic little cabins tucked away on the mountainside overlooking the ocean. The pool area is breathtaking...it offers a panoramic view of Manuel Antonio and the ocean. Casa Verde is a little pricey, though.

Forget staying in Quepos downtown--u can double back downtown at night.
Stay at the beach, about 10-12 km from Quepos known as Manuel Antonio. That's where your going to be all day anyway. Adjacent to CR's most popular national park and one of the top 3 beaches in CR for sure.

Lots of very nice places along the way from Quepos, like the posted Costa Verde or Si Como No, but only four right on the beach, and of those only Karahe or Verde Mar are the only ones to consider--Karahe a little nicer ($100), but Verde Mar rooms have kitchens. The places between Quepos and the beach, though very nice and probably nicer than my suggestion, are a taxi or bus ride to the beach or for a few places a l-o-o-o-n-n-g walk down the hillside to the beach--which feels alot longer on the way back up.

I like Verde Mar because I can load up on cokes and beer and coffee and fruit and stuff at the grocery store in Quepos and am all set for the morning and for quick hits.

There's a little restarauant/bar, Balu, right on the beach 100 yards from Verde Mar, opens for BK, great lunch, dinner, drinks all day. You'll love it.
A quarter mile further up the beach toward the park there are three restaraunts on the main drag.

Don't even mention chica fees when you check in, no matter where u stay there, just check in, or go to your room like they are your gf's and they either won't see or in either event won't care--other than Best Western downtown. Best Western is nice but stodgy without the qualifications to be stodgy. The mongering scene/mentality hasn't really hit Quepso yet.

Both of the hotels I have suggested have websites.

The Best Western always seems booked when I get there.
