Check Delta's website for your city and preferred dates.

I just got $517 round trip with all fees and taxes for ATL-SJO in three weeks.
Just got notice from Delta that these fare deals expire Nov. 10 so act now.

I just checked for Superbowl weekend and it is back up to $617.

Sometimes they drop it if they have unsold seats three weeks before the flight.

Travelocity never notified me of the fare drop and I believe their site is about useless.

Now to decide what I will have for Thanksgiving dinner the day I arrive.
Any suggestions? : ) Maybe I will start my feast at the Idem with a cold beer and a second one free with my VIP card.

With the airlines and airfares, there never seems to be any type of rhyme or reason as to their pricing. Sometimes, when you least expect it, they drop a couple hundred dollars from their usual fares. But oftentimes, the price only lasts for a few hours, or an afternoon. Then they're back to "normal" the next day.

IMHO, the best thing to do, is constantly monitor prices to/from the places that you travel. It helps if your travel dates are flexible, but if not, you've got to keep a watchful eye on the fares.

The price ATL to SJO jumped to $900 for a return on Monday Nov 27 and $517 for a Tuesday Nov 28 return. (Going down Nov 23).

On the return flight seats are almost all sold so that appears to be the determinimg factor.

Lesson: Check alternative dates when checking fares and look for flights with lots of empty seats. You can view seats on Delta's reservation page once you select a flight.
