Traveling to Manuel antonio in a couple weeks and likely staying off of the beach, up the mountain at one of the hotels. Looking for recommendations on rental car vs. taxi while there for 5 days. Not exactly sure the layout of the area and how much travel one considers. thanks

I've been ther 30? x--done it all diff ways. If I have the dough, I rent a car on line here from Thrifty--will meet u at Quepos airport and bring u back -- save about $10 right there. Car will be about $30+ a day. If u r staying up on the hill, you can bus it or cab it down. bus is cheap, slow. Cab down is $3 and back $5, or vice versa I forget, stupid but true. But if u want to go downtown Quepos during the day for awhile and get snakcs for the room or at nite for a couple of cocktails, which u will, add that $8 in. In short, rent the car, you will luv the ability to go now when u want. I go back and forth from the room to the beach and back in the a.m. (no real place to take a dump in the a.m. down at the beach), go downtown to get stuff, or eat, back to the room, back to the beach, back to the room, back downtown, etc etc. Rent the car online , cheap, from Thrifty. Drive careful back and forth--they pass like crazy when they shouldn't on the mountain. Other option is staying at a htoel down by the beach, only a few.
