As a long time visitor to Costa Rica, but first time staying at Sportsman's Lodge, I wanted to tell all VIP's that if you have not stayed here, you have really missed it. Am still here, enjoying my 8 day stay, and want to tell each of you, that the rooms, the staff, the service are all excellant.

Have stayed at all the usual places before including DR, Pres, Morazon, Balmoral, etc. None even a close second.

The rooms are plenty large, they are well appointed, and very clean. The maid service and laundry are great. Plenty of hot water "when you want it". Bathrooms are very accomodating.

The atmosphere is very laid back, whether in the lobby or in the bar. Nice people, plenty of sports, if you are into that. The rates are very good here as well. Very competitive.

Nothing that you need is more than a request away. Bill really knows how to run a place.

If you want the wild, loud, drunken gringo scene, this isn't for you. But if you want a really nice place to stay that will meet all your needs, the Sportsman's Lodge is for you.

This is not a paid advertisement, just a long time VIP who wants to pass along comments on one of the best stays in my many years coming to CR.

If you want specific information, PM me, I will be more than happy to go into more detail.

Camchada

This is not a paid advertisement,

Why did you post the exact same message a couple days ago?

And are there any hotels that have a wild, loud, drunken gringo scene by the way?

These "blow smoke up Sportsmens Lodge' butt" threads are entertaining. I have stayed there a few times and it is a nice place- well planned, comfortable, luxurious. I thought I had one of the rooms in the new wing booked a while back only to find out they moved me to the old wing, which was fine. But I stopped fighting to try and book a room there because I don't plan that far ahead and they are usually booked. I enjoy stopping by when I am in town to see what's going on. I can't stand walking through the bar and having some girl follow me around as if I don't know to take a seat or order if I want something. It's a nice place but I found it didn't make a difference to how much I enjoyed SJO whether I stayed there or not.

Just had that same experience at the SL. I thought I had booked the new wing but was in the old. Cool! It makes no difference where you are in that place. The staff is great and so is Bill. I have never felt more welcome in all of my travels. I had the Esperansa room right by the bar. Great bed and since I was in there with a group of cats that where just there to chill it was great. Bill if you read thank you for welcome me into the family and I will see you soon my Amigo.

Also like to thank Eddie for the Cigar tips.

And all the ladies at SL amd ZB.

Back from 1st trip. Agree the SL is a laidback comfortable place. Vanessa was kind enough to show me room options(Istayed @PRES.) I traveled from SJ to Jaco, Quepos and Puerto Viejo, Asta the bartender at SL was by far the most professional barkeep I met in 12 days. Bill suggest you move her to Bar Mgr, not all gringos drink Imperial.

I will say the Presidential suite had a musty order, check before booking this suite. All other rooms (old wing) were worth the $
