I stayed there in January and found it to be a very nice hotel. They were chica friendly at the time. There have been a few posts indicating things may have changed. Has anyone been there recently who can adivse. I'd like to stay there again, but it would inconvienent if I couldn't bring someone back.

You can bring all the chicas back to your room that you want. The hotel will "only"charge you a $25/chica fee for each one. My favorite line from these hotels who make money from prostitution is "It's for YOUR protection". hahaha so why can't they protect the guys for nothing?

Have stayed ther 3 times, and they have always waived the chica fee.
Don't really know if they really have a chica fee; great hotel.

It would seem from some recent postings, Barry Cohen, Enforcer, Rainbow_benny, Mas Chicas, et al that Sleep Inn has changed their stance on chicas.

That is really great news for the monger tourists as the location is great, it is new, has a casino and a good, reasonably priced (remember to ask for the bar menu  ) restaurant attached. All those things make it one of the best choices in San Jose.

Can anyone give some info on room rates?

$75.00 a night plus the 16% tax. They have a 10% discount for people over 50. At least this is what I found on the website.

ID,

The sleep inn will not charge the chica fee providing you just walk in and take the chica or chicas directly to the room, without being loud, drunk or causing any kind of a scene that the hotel deems unappropiate.
I have stayed there 3 times since the Presidente changed their dress code which I found not to my liking.

I'd be a little wary about a place with at best mixed reports. Perhaps they charge a chica fee or perhaps they don't. If they do charge a $25 chica fee it wouldn't surprise me at all if they were friendly to you and accepting of your bringing back that sort of business but I would hardly call $25 monger-friendly no matter how much they smiled at you. OTOH, if they really don't charge a chica fee now, that would be welcome news.

When the hotel first opened up the gerencia was quoted in the local papers as saying such business would not be welcomed at her hotel and that she would be just as happy if it disappeared from the Gulch altogether. Now there are reports not only of them allowing chica guests but of waiving any special fees altogether. So what has happened in between? Is the original gerencia still in charge or has she been replaced? What sort of occupancy have they encountered? CR in general may be hot with gringo tourists but the crime and prostitute ridden Gulch is not particularly hot with most regular tourists. When they first opened, there was some speculation how much business they'd find among more family-oriented PG-rated tourists vs. the hard-drinking carousing gamblers and assorted mongers that would make a more natural market for a casino-hotel in the Gulch. I'm speculating that their occupancy did not turn out to be as good as they had hoped and so were pretty much forced recognize what was obvious from the very beginning to all the rest of us and soften their chica policy.

It would be nice if someone would find out EXACTLY WHAT THE OFFICIAL POLICY IS ON CHICAS AT THE SLEEP INN, so we know if it is a viable option or not. If they were indeed chica friendly, I would certainly consider it. It looks like a very nice place.

I imagine they might waive the chica fee if you are a member of sleep inn's hotel program.

I would love to get the scoop.

Lets go CRT's

Stop by and ask on your way to the gulch.

My worthless speculation based on reports and hearsay  is if that you just "stop by and ask" they will probably quote you the 25.00 guest fee. If you are looking for a room for a few days or a week and discreetly request permission to have guests and give some assurance you won't be making a spectacle of yourself, they will likely waive the fee. It's been posted some paid a one time 25.00 fee for the whole week and others paid nothing. Like most things in CR it appears to be negotiable and perhaps a matter of talking to the right person. Those that don't ask beforehand get hit with the fee, those "in the know" can probably work a deal beforehand. And it may not be in their best interest to just drop the guest fee and advertise it to have the hotel overun with mongers and putas. But it appears they will turn a blind eye at this point as long as things are kept discreet.

As usual I may not know what the hell I'm talking about. :)

Does this imply that the desk doesn't record the chica's ID? If so, I wouldn't consider that very safe.

Paco,

Good points. The problem I have is that one guy gets the chica in with a "wink and a nod  :) " from the desk clerk, and with my luck, I try it and get the $25.00 fee :( . To me, at this point, it seems too "wishy washy" to risk it.

When I stayed there in January, they recorded the chica's ID....frankly, I don't remember if they charged an extra fee or not....but, I do remember the bill was reasonable....

Paco, is there any other type of speculation but worthless? Believe me, I should know since I like to dish out so much myself.

It seems to me I've heard of this trying to have it both ways thing somewhere else before. :? Could it be the Presidente? A lot of people were complaining about their mixed message dress-code policy when it was implemented and even with that they are much more monger friendly than what you suggest may be the case at the Sleep Inn. Like the Sleep Inn they insist on discretion, which when you think about it is not all that unreasonable a request, but unlike the Sleep Inn, if your chica is presentable there is never any question of whether you might or might not be charged a $25 fee

Zorro, raises a very good point. The check in system is there for our protection as much as for the hotel's, I just agree with Bob that there is never any reason (other than greed or to discourage its use) for a place to ever charge $25 for it.

How many guys are going to want to reserve at a place, without a clear understanding of whether they'll be able to bring a chica back or if they can whether they will be charged an outrageous fee for the privelege. If all monger guests were discreet (admittedly a big if) what would be so bad if they filled up their hotel with such guests. Our money is just as green as any regular tourist. At our best, we're as good a guest as any regular tourist (and those who aren't are easy enough to deal with in other ways). But unlike most regular tourists, if we're treated well we can become a steady and repeated source of cash flow. I'm not even talking about any special discounted room rate for us. Just not to be automatically treated like a bunch of undesirable perverts. Even with an official chica policy its possible to at least try to structure it in such a way to welcome discreet mongers while discouraging the real riff-raff. The Presidente is showing us that and maybe this discussion of Sleep Inn and their wishy washy policy will make some guys more appreciative of that fact or maybe its time (hint hint) for someone officially with CRT to make another visit with the management to clarify their policy if not actually get any discount.

As usual I may not know what the hell I'm talking about.
