I am new to CRT and have read different comments about Amon Plaza and Holiday Inn in SJ.

I usually travel 2-3 times a year to CR for business and pleasure and have always been at the Holiday Inn. I like the hotel but the chicas fee is a pain in the neck and I read that they recently increased the fee to USD 25 (even 40,-????/)
For my nex trip in November, I was therefore planning to make my reservation at the Amon Plaza (although controversial versions regarding mattress!!!). The special price they have now for CTR members looks very attractive and of course no chica feees.

However, my question is the following: is the Amon Plaza a good choice for business people??? I mean, can I meet people at the hotel to conduct business without creating any bad impression or this is just a monger place??? The pictures in their web page look very nice.

Any comments from other member is highly appreciated.

Pura Vida!!! :D

Bob:

Welcome to the Board. I have stayed at the Clarion Amon Plaza many times and can assure you that it is suitable for business purposes. They have a very nice bar/restaurant area that opens to the street. They also serve a nice breakfast there with made to order eggs.

Some of the mattresses are better than others, but I have never had a problem asking staff which rooms have the new beds. Nor has staff ever been rude to me. Another plus is the Casino which has American BJ. Sometimes, though, it is hard to find players.

To sum up, the Amon is a good deal, no image issues with your clients, no chica fee and a short walk to ZB, NF and the Gulch (just remember to take a taxi at night).

Good summary from Lance. In fact I just had a business meeting in the open air restaurant last week. The food isn't very good but the atmosphere is great. There aren't any working chicas hanging around, day or night,to make it look like the DR. However with the CRT discount and no chica fees,it suits ALL your needs.

Agree with VB the food is not that good, prices are high and they still have paper napkins not too great for a place trying to give a great image

Open air restaurant is great for meetings but dont eat there

I have stayed at Amon Plaza and I actually DO like the food. Matter of fact..I like everything about the Amon Plaza. Probably because I feel so Happy when I'm in Costa Rica that I just have a F*ckin good attitude about everything. Anyway...I'm sure you'll like the place.
