I'm not sure. Best thing would be to email them and ask what room you're and where it is.

I forget the name of room a had last trip in the new section. I don't believe they really finished the wall between my room and the next room. I could hear everything (even a whisper) from the room next to mine. The bathroom noise was a real turn off.

So, SL is not on the top of my list.

Last trip (2 weeks ago) I was in Hermosa...my new fave room in SJO, but on my last night had to move to Buena Vida (in the old wing). I am happy to post that the old wing now has AC in every room & a safe. Hot water is still scalding hot though. Noise wasn't a problem at all, and I am very happy to report that there was no REGGAE quartet the entire week!

Also for you Golden Tee lovers...there is now a Golden Tee video game in the bar!!

I am not sure about the Presidente. I have never stayed at SL, but I called for a reservation in November and they offered to put me in a standard deluxe--which from an earlier reply appears to be in the old wing......I told them to hold off and get back to me only IF a suite becomes available--can the staff at SL be trusted? In other words, if they come back to me and tell me they have a suite, I won't be bait and switched to a lesser room upon arrival, would I?.....in the meantime, I have gone ahead and booked a room at the new Hotel M and will happily pay more to stay here since this will be my one and only mongering vacation of the year.....hope there is enough for me to do (besides mongering) in San Jose for 5 days--will probably not have time to venture out to the Tamarind or Guanacaste coast.

Never had a problem geting the room you pre book. No bait and switch. They do fill up but booking a month ahead you should be able to get what you want.

I only had one experience with SL changing my room on me...and it was for the better.

I had originally booked Paz in the old section for the first two nights of my trip in late August. They moved me to Belleza...good, because it's a better room, bad because it's right on top of the bar and next to the kitchen. It's also more expensive, but the SL charged me the lower room price. Actually, I liked Belleza, but when I moved to Hermosa I was even happier. It's well worth the higher rate.

The rooms at the Presidente are quiet as far as street noise goes. Insulation between the rooms is very good. Having ceramic floor tile and concrete construction makes the ambient sound in the rooms a bit reverberant...there's a decidedly pronounced echo inside the rooms.

Hope this helps.

You know, I always wanted to go hallway and elevator fishing in the Presidente. It might be cool to intercept one of these little hotties as she returns to the elevator, and offer her say, fifgty bucks to hang around until you get your nut. Well, it's a thought.

BTW, the clippity-clop isn't reserved for the Presidente. The tiles in the SL courtyard reverberate nicely when the girl is going home... Not a problem; I find the sounds both soothing and reassuring. I drift off to sleep, content in the knowledge that there exist prostitutes in this cold old world. :D
