"For any guaranteed reservation accepted by Sportsmens Lodge and secured by your posted credit card information, there is a $50 cancellation fee when you cancel before 72 hours of your reservation date. After the 72 hour reservation period prior to your date of check in, the cancellation fee is %50 of the entire reserved stay to the credit card you use for guaranteeing your reservation. This is backed by the laws of the Federal Govenment of the Untied States of America, Canada, the European Union countries and the Costa Rica Municipalidad."

Just so you know ahead of time when you are making your reservations.

I like this policy, its a little hard line but when I booked my superbowl trip in Sept. the SL was almost full. I remember last year during the same time guys droping thier Res. a few days before the event. Shit happens sometimes and trips get canned but if the SL had a empty room superbowl weekend it would be a sin.

Wow  I thought all you had to due, as a business, was establish a policy, advise your customers of that policy and enforce it fairly 8)

Never realized you had to satisfy all those governments and there various different requirements. :(

Notice there is no mention of the laws of Israel or any Arab countries  is this a loophole we might exploit  :?:

Let me understand this....if you make a reservation 2 months in advance with your credit card and then need to cancel it 2 weeks later (i.e. " before 72 hours in advance") you will be charged $ 50......I can see if you cancel with less than 72 hours to go, but not before.

I think you are misunderstanding it, it's worded kind of funny.

To cancel a reservation without being charged a fee, you must do so by at least 72 hours prior to your arrival date, not the date you made the reservation.

With out trying to nitpick I do not read it that way.

I read that to say if you cancel anytime before 72 hours of your confirmed reservation date you will be charged $50.00.

Quote:
After the 72 hour reservation period prior to your date of check in, the cancellation fee is %50 of the entire reserved stay

Should you cancel at anytime from 72 hours before the start of your confirmed reservation you will be charged 50% of the entire amount of your confirmed stay. If you had reserved for one night you would pay one half of the daily rate. If you had reserved for four weeks you would be charged for two weeks.

That leads to the interesting situation that should you have reserved for only one night you would pay more for canceling prior to 72 hours ($50.00 flat rate) than you would pay for canceling after the 72 hour window (50% of the one day rate)

Think that the policy is very confusing as written and should be reworded to not only be more understandable but also to be less harsh on someone who cancels with sufficient notice. I consider 72 hours notice very fair and should not be subject to a $50.00 charge.

ID, nitpicky, you? No way!

Here's an excerpt from an email I received from SL a few months ago:

SL wrote:
Hello XXXX,

You have 72 hours before you arrive to cancel your reservation without penalty.

Anything else you need just please let me know.

Seems they could solve the problem very easily. Change the language regarding cancellation penalties to what they emailed you and scrap the confusing language they now use.

I agree, the wording is very confusing.
