Post subject:  Any "U.S.A" style motels in CR?

I've searched this site for San Jose area motels without success. Anyone know of a place where I can park my rental car in front of my room like motels in the U.S.A.? If there aren't any, does anyone know of a weekly apartment rental with parking in front of or behind the apartment, or with subterranean parking, that has a private entrance? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm arriving in CR on September 25th.

Great site!

The Sleep Inn, located within the gultch has a huge parking lot within it's fenced in, guarded compound. The place is NOT chica friendly though.

There is a Holiday Inn near Hotel Delrey which has similar amenities as the US chain Holiday Inn. Don't know about its parking facility. I've stayed there many years ago but didn't like the chica fees.

I would recommend the Clarion Hotel or Amon Plaza Hotel. The standard room and the bathroom are quite spacious. The room amenities is very similar to a better Holiday Inn in the US. It also has a parking garage underneath the hotel.

I am going to CR for a week. Maybe it is somewhere on the website but i cant' seem to find it, is there a map showing where the delrey and ZB is located (this sounds like the two main hot spots).

What I am looking for is a list of hotels, walking distance (safe walking distance at night) to the above places, but as well, easy access to transportation when I take a bus to Arenal. Hotel Presidente appeared to be booked, i have sent them an email to confirm, if i cannot go there, i would like to find a chica friendly hotel in that area.

Am i reading right, do they charge me for bringing a girl to my hotel room? i dont' have a vip card.

There are no US style motels in Costa Rica.

In CR motels exist as a place for a guy to take a chica for sex. Most have drive in garages and a pass thru to pay and order drinks and bocas. You never see the staff and they never see you. Complete anonymity

Yes there is a map that shows all of the places that a monger might want to visit in San Jose. It is available to VIP members. Membership does have it privileges

Presidente does not have a charge for bringing a guest to your room. They do have a limit of one girl who must register at the security desk and a dress code.

There is an old map in the Newbie section, but it sucks compared to the new improved versions. :) So membership still does have it privileges.

Yup, this is Costa Rica and not the US with its mass of highways and car culture. The US-style motel does not exist here.

And why would anyone want to drive themselves when staying in San Jose? Rental cars are far more trouble then they are worth. I am always very glad that I'm in a taxi when heading to the Del Rey from the airport in the afternoon. Four trips so far and I still have no idea how to get there! :D

Before I discovered CR, I used to go to Cancun on vacation every year and always rented a car and drove everywhere. But in San Jose there is no way I would even think about driving around.

The Hotel Presidente it is...Grand Spa Suite, I'll take along a nice jogging outfit for "temporary acquaintances" to use. This is my first CR mongering excursion, but I have over 30 years experience in the "arts." Thank you for your advice and if I have any unique experiences while there I'll most assuredly share them with this group of fine, fellow mongers. Don't worry about me, 'ol Demongers NEVER FALLS IN LOVE WITH A H**KER, although he sometimes makes them wish he would.

Once again, thanks to those of you who took the time to answer my questions. Happy trails!

They have to offer free parking. After paying a $25.00 chica fee no one has any money left to pay for parking
