Post subject: | Can any Vets help a Newbie with trip plans?? |
This is my first trip to Costa Rica and first mongering trip period. I am going to be in Costa Rica 8 nights. The thing is, I REALLY want to see Costa Rica along with exploring all the beautiful chica's. My first night I get in late and am staying at the Holiday Inn (Del Ray and Presidente were booked). This way I can hit the Del Ray my first night. The next day I am going up to Aranal for two nights and the Cloud Forest for another night. The next stage is where my dilemma really lies. I want to visit Jaco, but also want to stay at the Del Ray. Should I do two days in Jaco and 2 at the Del Ray, or 1 night in Jaco and 3 at the Del Ray. I really want to do the whole sightseeing, eco-tour stuff during the day and then play my ass off at night. Can any of you guru's help a newbie out? Mucho Gracias! |

MickyD, I agree with Dapanz1. Besides that, you're going to the HDR your 1st night in town. Then, you're doing Arenal for 2 nights, and the Cloud Forest for another night. IMHO, after tasting the HDR your 1st night, and then leaving the next morning for your eco-tourist stuff.....you'll be chomping at the bit to get back to SJO. You probably won't want to do Jaco at all. YMMV. Regardless, don't make too many plans ahead of time. More than likely, they'll all go to sh*t as soon as you arrive. Go to the HDR your 1st night, then do the next 3 nights out of town. Then, at that point, decide what to do for the rest of your trip. I got a feelin that I can guess where you'll be for your final 4 nights !!!!!! Have a great time. Mucho Gusto ![]() |

My advice is to skip the Cloud Forest if you are taking about the Cloud Forest in Monteverde. These are without a doubt the worst roads in Costa Rica. No matter how you get there, car, Interbus, (God forbid local bus) your ass is going to be so sore you'll be standing up for the next three days. Cloud Forest = clouds. You will rarely see anything because it is socked in with clouds 18 hours a day. There is nothing you can see in Monteverde that you can't see in La Fortuna including a much better view of the Arenal Volcano. I loved the four hour ATV there and a two hour horseback ride up into the jungle. No mongering in either place. Closest is San Carlos a 40+ km taxi ride. |

Thanks for the advice El Lamero and all. I am going to take your advice and skip the Cloud Forest. That will give me two days in Jaco and a total of 4 at DR. Can't tell you how excited I am. Thanks! ![]() |
