Post subject:  Fly Continental? 9/15 Last day for Privilege Packs!!!

Continental has had a little known promotion over the years called privilege packs. Originally they were only available during your first year in Continental's frequent flyer program OnePass. For at least the last 3 years you can buy one every calendar year. They no longer promote the program and will completely stop selling them this Tuesday August 15th.

They come in two versions, I recommend getting the more expensive one for the extra miles and the up to $100 off coupon. I've listed the benefits of both below (Continental doesn't anymore) and the details of the two coupons. It's the miles and the $99 companion fare and up to $100 off coupon that make the packs such a good deal. The club passes and other coupons are ok too, but not as nice. The $100 off coupon can be used for flights over $400 to destinations system-wide including San Jose and is non-transferable. The $99 companion fare coupon is extendable but is only good for the US (but not Hawaii) and Canada. The more expensive the ticket the more $ it will save you and a companion.

Here are the details:

Good news. Continental has authorized their OnePass agents to accept purchases until 9/15. However, you should purchase right away if you have plans for the coupons. The miles should post almost immediately. The rest of the pack will arrive in the mail in 2 to 4 weeks. It's been closer to 2 weeks but might take longer.
