The Green season must really be here. Last night (and the night before) was unusually quiet especially for a Saturday night. Greg (part owner of the DR) came over to say hello, and he told me that they only had 65 rooms rented. He also said that I should take half the chicas and he would take the other half. Personally I like it better when it's not so crowded.

I will be there on Wednesday to help with this crisis. When there are people in need I'm always there. That's just the kind of guy I am.

It's just the lull before the storm. I'm sure it will pick up in mid August.

Yeah - but it definitely sounds dead there right now. Sportsmen's only had four rooms booked this week, and it's apparently been very dead at ZB also (other than the chica fireworks). Wondering if this is typical for this time of year, or if it's just CRT'er's holding off until the Labor Day festivities...

It is definitely slow, but the chica to monger ratio is as high as I have ever seen it.

Compared to May, it seems to be a lack of guys last week. There seemed to be fewer ticas, but a LOT fewer guys.

I'll bet the high airfare has something to do with it also.
At least it does for me. I think I made about five trips to CR
last year, this year it will only be two. Of course my business
travel is more this year, but the air tickets are really high to
CR, compared to other areas.
Example, in March I went to Thailand, RT out of LAX was
$789, my last coach ticket to CR was $698.
My ticket for my next (last) trip this year to CR at the
end of September cost $498. Last year my average
ticket cost to CR was $325.

I'll bet it does, too, ShyOne.
The airlines flying out of the northeast have throttled way back on the number of flights to CR. Up until recently, Continental had two daily non-stop flights to SJO out of Newark...now it is down to one. Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte & Houston appear to be the current departure points for CR-bound flights.

How far in advance were you booking? I got a quote from AA today for a flight in October, SFO to DFW to SJO for $442 ($507 including taxes etc).

Try it as an extra destination when you are flying for business. I just SAVED $100 by adding a stopover in SJO for three days to catch a Saturday night. If you don't believe me, I'll have the itineraries in my pocket when I am in the BM on Thur/Fri/Sat next week, and I'll buy you a Rock Ice. :D

Think of the money you'd have saved if you hadn't come back last week.

Could have put that money into a digital camera. (Still time to raise the bar.)

So please recommend a small digital camera for tica pix! Somehow taking my big system camera seems overkill.

I know the phone is poor, but touched up, this ain't that bad:

The small digital I do have does OK. That's how I got this pic of Angel:

Either let me know what you recommend, or get down there and show me how to do it!

(FYI - I banter with Ramair4 on another board. He is a soon-to-be CR convert from LPIN. )

Everything you want to know about digital cameras.
There are reviews from different websites and prices.
On the left-hand side you can sort by name, size, price, etc.

Another good site I came across today:
