Hello guys,

Of course I used the search function before writing this, but more than a list of monger-friendly resorts, hotels and fishing information, I'm looking for your recommendations. This is serious, so please read and reply with care.

I am looking for a getaway in Guanacaste'. I don't know anything about that area, and it's tough to pick the best place to stay. Our budget is in the $100.00/night range, plus taxes. We also need a rental SUV, should you be able to make recommendations there as well.

We need:

1. Room or cabina with A/C and hopefully a restaurant close by.
2. Coffeemaker and/or some kind of room service a plus.
3. Swimming pool
4. Ocean view, easy beach access
5. Not overrun with gringos. We want some interaction with the locals.
6. Semi-private beach for walking, sunbathing, perhaps some shallow water swimming
7. Accessible by road from either SJO or Liberia.
8. Excellent sunset potential if the sky is clear/partly cloudy
9. Good people both guests and staff.
10. Clean/vermin-free.

We're not into ecotourism, jungle adventures or deep sea fishing. This is more about chill time for two close friends. Cool, casual, liberal local scene would be a plus. P4P opportunities not necessary.

Do you have a favorite getaway? Please make your recommendations.

TIA

On car rental I had good luck and got decent price from Eurocar on Paseo Colon. Also no ripoff problems trying to accuse me of damage and such. This is if looking for car in San Jose.It has been close to 10 years since I was last up there so more recent visitors can likely help on hotel.rbc100
