Anyone know of hotels that are girl friendly and that also has high speed internet and trouble free VPN connection back to US servers. I may want to extend my vacation, but I will have to do some work as well. |

All you will need is a high bandwidth, low latency internet connection without a lot of congestion. The VPN pipe and software is strictly dependent on your laptop config and your company's servers. VPN is unintelligent and could care less where you are connecting from. The only problem - I have yet to find a hotel with a good internet connection in CR. You may have to try an internet cafe that allows you to plug-in your laptop to their network (or use their wireless). Alternatively, you could try an expensive hotel like the Marriott. I think this is the best hotel in CR. Believe it or not - its even monger friendly. When I was new to CR, I stayed there on business, and had no problems with chicas. The clincher.... its 20 minutes away from the gulch. You should negotiate TLDs. |

Has anyone tried using VPN at the sleep inn. I think they charge you for the ethernet port in the room. I am curious whether they will assign you an internal or an outside IP number. I've had problems in a few places where they need to reassign you an outside IP number. But I usually have to call their help desk. |

Well this time around I've been busted at work. I couldn't connect via VPN to the work computer and I got busted. I talked to the system guy there. They apparently now assign you an internal IP number that allows you get to the internet but is not recognized by a lot of proxy servers. VOIP was much worst than last time I stayed here. |
