Hey THANKS for posting, though the $500 RT out of Miami is about what AA has been charging for last few months(?)

GEEZ when did AA start using those big-ass AirBus jets to San Jose? I seem to remember 757's but it's been a year since I've visited so my memory is foggy.

It's all relative. It wasn't much more than a year ago that they still had fares for half that amount out of Miami and now they present that as something special. :? What has the world come to? Now it looks like the Middle East is going to blow up again, so I wouldn't count on things returning to the good old days any time soon. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me that at this time next year someone will be posting about a "sale" for MIA>SJO fares at $750 or more and it will look so good compared to what fares will be then that we'll all race to snap it up. :(

I fear the $300 airfares we were seeing over recent years are history. As long as airlines are filling their planes at these fares which they seem to be doing consistently on my flights the prices are not going down. I consider myself lucky to have caught a $400 fare Memeorial day and the $525 both including taxes I paid for Labor day looks as cheap as it will get as the present sale is about $30 higher for me.To many tourist have dicovered our little paridise for fares to remain low plus increasing costs.rbc100

Trying to figure out air fares is useless. But in several years of watching out for fares I have noticed trends. If you're traveling after Oct 1, try and wait it out until Labor Day. It could be a little nerve wracking, but I wouldn't be at all suprised to see fares drop immediately thereafter, at least temporarily, for travel during the remainder of the so-called green season.

Also, patience is usually rewarded, but not always. A few weeks ago I saw fares for AA out of Philly for around $400 including taxes for travel over Labor Day weekend. I thought about it, didn't bite, fares are back up to $570 including taxes, and in the meantime I had a car wreck, totaled my car, and might wind up having to spend my CR bankroll on my next set of wheels instead!

AA had fares under $300 out of Philly in January 2006 for travel to SJO thru October 2006.

that is when I booked my Memorial Day and Labor Day flights.

since then, fares have gone up.

I agree that after Labor Day, fares may drop again.

I recommend that when one sees a cheap fare, go ahead and book it even if the travel dates are months and months off.

yes, there is the rish that something may mess up your plans, but I believe it is worth the risk to snap up cheap fares when available.

For instance, if I see some cheap fares after Labor Day, I will try to book flights for November 2006, January 2007, Memorial Day 2007 etc...

For those flying AAlines it is good to book when you see a somwhat reasonable fare because if it later is a lower price you can get credit for the reduction. I have gotten a credit several times of course you have to call to request it and must me same flights.I am still hoping for my fare on Labor Day to go down but starting to look unlikely.rbc100
