Post subject: | Jaco Hotels |
I know this has been covered in several other posts and I have read most of them, but I was wondering if anyone could help me with some updated information on Jaco area hotels. I prefer a nice, clean hotel with amenities, and as my preferred daytime activities are golf and fishing and saving a few bucks is not my primary concern, I am considering a stay at Marriott Los Suenos. I understand this hotel is a bit isolated and about a 10 minute taxi from the nighttime action; are there any other major drawbacks to this resort? I've seen mixed reports on this hotel being chica friendly; does anyone have a recent experience? Any feedback or comments would be appreciated as well as recommendations for a comparable or high quality property closer to town. This will be my first trip to Jaco and I only have a few days before heading back to SJ. Thanks for any help. LJ |

The marriot is about it. Best western resort is nice but no guest are wanted. Search for posts by thirdworld he has a surf camp in that area and seems to post the best info. |

Probably the only thing comparable in Jaco would be Club Del Mar. They have very nice suites and great ammenities. Upscale, that would be about it in Jaco. |

I visited the Marriott while in Jaco meet up with a friend that works at the marina (april 06). It's beautiful, however I would say not a place I would feel 100% comfortable wheeling a gal to from the BB. Plus, it is a solid 10-15 minutes from Jaco. While in Jaco I stayed at the Canciones Del Mar (www.cancionesdelmar.com) and had a blast. It's right on the beach, in the middle of the action and just around the corner from the BB. The Genral Manager is Marco and can be reached at 506-643-3273. I believe it was about $100 or so when it was all said and done per night and has a low chica fee. They have about 12 rooms, a nice pool (which I never used), the AC is crisp, and a kitchen (only used the fridge - nice for keeping the beers cold). It has a very European feel due to the owner Peter being European. Not that it really matters, but the ladies were always pleased once we arrived. I would stay there again. Good luck and enjoy. |

I'm looking at where to stay in Jaco too. Ive used the search tool a great deal and decided between "Canciones del Mar" and "Club del Sol". Both are condo-type hotels and are around the same price for a two bedroom suite (130 and 111, respectively). Other than the distance to the BB and such, are there any considerable differences between the two hotels? |

You have a restaurant, bar and much more upscale ammenities at Club Del Mar. But Canciones has it's own personality and is very relaxing. And if you are coming alone, the rooms are cheaper than the suites andd very nice. I think the rooms are going for around $65 this time of year. My partner just put together a list of hotels and prices for me. I'm leaving for San Jose, but will post them when I get to the apt. there. |

Thanks Thirdworld, I looked at the "Club del Mar" website and that seems very upscale yet a little pricey for my wallet. Im leaning more towards Canciones. Not to sound like a total newbie, but "Club del Mar" and "Club Del Sol" are two different hotels, correct? They have two different websites so im probably answering my own quesion! Either way, the "Del Sol" seems cool too and I have seen good reviews from CRTers. Plus its closer in price to Canciones. Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but my spanish is basic and all these " of the sea/of the sun/of the whatever" hotel names start to sound the same after a while. |

Their is also Hotel Poseidon, which is about $75 per night plus tax. I can usually get him to wave the chica fee too. |

I just stayed at the Copacabana Hotel and Suites (July 31-August 4). I really like the place. It's right on the beach, has a good pool, good food and is very close to the Beatle Bar. Also has CRT VIP discounts and other discounts are applied when paying cash. |

Could anyone tell me how far Club del Sol and Club del Mar are from the BB? I think we have it narrowed down to these 2 places or maybe the Balcon when we make a trip to Jaco for a few days while were in SJ. Thanks, Pogo |
