Folks in the ATL know who Clark howard on the radio is. I got an email of travel tips earlier today with this: # Round-trip from Atlanta: # $299 San Jose, Costa Rica or Guatemala City, Guatemala # A 14-day advance purchase required # Travel any available day # Stay 3-120 days # No expiration of travel # Blackouts: Dec. 22-27 south/Jan. 1-3 north # Valid on Continental I plugged a couple of dates in August in but the best I found was $441. At that price it may be worth a try!! |

Best I could find for Oct 26-Nov 1 (Thurs to Wed, non-holiday) on Continental was $431 + $74 taxes and fees. Keep in mind you'll be going via Houston or Newark in both directions and the flight is anywhere from 7 to 10.25 hours. ATL to SJO direct on Delta in 4 hours is tough to beat. Of course you pay for that privilege ($567 inc taxes and fees). Good thing I had enough SkyMiles for my next 3 trips. I found this on his website: http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/10/355/#intl # More Carib & Latin specials Purchase these round-trip deals through Sept. 30: # $347 San Jose, Costa Rica # $410 Liberia, Costa Rica Valid from Aug. 15 with travel to be completed on or by Nov. 15. Add $25 per per direction for Fri.-Sun. travel. Stay 3-30 days. Valid on American. # Low Latin deals Purchase these round-trip deals by July 14: # $325 Liberia or San Jose, Costa Rica No advance purchase required. Travel any available day. Stay 3-30 days. Complete travel by Sept. 30. Valid on American. Add $60 each way fuel surcharge. What I want to know is, how is Delta going to fly a 737 down to SJO on Oct 31st (one flight at 10:45AM only) and return it at 2PM yet they also have a return at 9AM on Nov. 1st in a 757? Are they dead-heading an empty plane down there? Interesting. |
