downside
no $7 little darlings onsite

upside
disneyland environment

seriously, especially for a first time visitor, you will have fun.

think with your big head and have fun with the little one.

or, if you must think with your little head, then remember that condoms cut off the flow of oxygen to your brains.

negotiate in advance.

Great place to stay. Safe, And it is like being in a candy store. Great morning buffett next door and the key largo is there at night. Depending on how long you will be there, You do not ever have to leave that block. Also a bunch of CRT bro's meet at the del ray happy hour at 5 pm. Just ask around.

A Day At The Del Rey: you have made a good choice and you are infor an experience you will remember the rest of your life. My first suggestion would be about two weeks out from your trip reconfirm your reservation and do this again about two day's out. Make copies of all your e-mails with the Del Rey and bring them with you. Not trying to make you paranoid just prepared. I have made over thirty trips to the Del Rey on two occasions I was told I did not have a reservation but when I produced copies of my e-mails suddenly my reservation was found.

The Del Rey offers airport pickup but this is just not necessary use taxis at the airport they will take to directly to the hotel and are much quicker to get into. Upon arrival at the hotel precedes to the check-in desk where you will need your passport and the credit card you use to make the reservation. Request a room on the upper floors this is primarily to insulate you from sound as from the first floor to the fifth floor all the rooms are identical. Room 215 is just room 315 ,415 and 515. The 6th floor has a different floor plan. The worst room in the building is room 110. If you bring a good set of earplugs all of this is irrelevant.

As your checking in aske for the key to the minibar if you do not aske they do not give it to you. There is a safe in the room that is very easy use. Let one of the porters take your luggage to the room this is an excellent opportunity to make a friend that will be useful during your stay. If you tip them well they will tell you let me know if you need anything they mean anything. As your standing at the check-in desk look to your right you'll see an ATM machine this is the only one you'll need. On the right you'll also see two computers that there for the use of the guest. My last trip was in February they do like to move things around in the lobby so the ATM machine and computers may have moved.

Once you are in your room make use of the safe then get your ass down to the Blue Marlin it is why you're there. Please forgive me if I include too much detail I just do not know how experienced you're at this. Suggestion do not run a bartab pay as you go more than once when checking out I have overheard arguments about bar bills. Other than all the girls hanging around the bar, coffee shop and restaurant work just like any other one you've ever been in. The bartenders are not on the menu. They are very friendly and flirt a lot that is their job. That said from personal experience and secondhand information it has been reported that doors have been knocked on in the very early hours of the morning.

Restaurant: there is no restaurant in the hotel just across the street is one that is operated by the hotel. That is where your room service will come from. You can also order food while in the lobby are in the bar. They have a large breakfast buffet each morning in the restaurant or order for the menu. I personally like having coffee in the morning at the coffee bar and ordering something to be brought to me their. If like me you are more comfortable eating familiar food the Del Rey Berger is quite good but I would order well done unless you like red meat. They have a roast beef sandwich that is served open face with cream potatoes and gravy with a side order of corn. If this does not sound inviting to you do not be concerned within two or three blocks of the Del Rey there must be a dozen restaurants. This is getting too long.

Del Rey Love: by this time you're out of the Room and down in the bar. A quick note about getting up and down the floors of the hotel that is. There are two elevators one by the coffee bar and a second one in a small room by the blue marlin. The one by the coffee bar is slow as it can be goes down to the basement and all the way up to the sixth floor. The one by the blue marlin operates from the lobby to the 5th floor. I personally like walking down the staircase and taking in the view from the balconies. All the rooms open onto an interior light shaft that runs all the way down to the casino floor. Traveling down the staircase gives a preview of the attractions that are awaiting you.

You have been here long enough now that you've probably developed a desire to fulfill the primary purpose of this trip. You're in the right place and any time is the right time in this place. Make a selection I'm not going to get into how to do that there are too many others at CRT that are better at articulating about that. I have my own particular method that seems to work for me and no one else. The Del Rey or staying at the Del Rey gives you a number of advantages in the selection process and the negotiation stage as well as in the execution. The major advantage of the selection process is that you spend more time at the Del Rey staying there and therefore are exposed to more choices. If you don't like anything you see just go up to your room and taken a nap for an hour. You come back down they will be plenty of new faces. The major advantage in the negotiation stage is that it there is no travel time for you or the girl so she is more likely to accept less money. The execution stage is probably the biggest advantage.

Once you and your lady had signed a prenuptial agreement taker her by the hand and over to the little room by the blue marlin were the second elevator is. There you'll see a sign in podium and a security guard. You're short order bride will have to surrender her passport or ID and signe in two your room. You will be required to sign this paper also. There is a $10 charge for each lady taken to your room. Then it is off to the elevator. If once the door closes she is all over you you have a good one. This is what I call the elevator test. The big advantage here of course is security. You're not out of the street. The Del Rey has very good in-house security once you step out the front door you are not their responsibility.

Lee,

Great information about the HDR. I'm the newbie of our up comming trip to CR. My 2 buddies that I'm going with were there this past May, but did not stay at the HDR. We have all 3 rooms rented of the 6th floor for our stay in San Jose. We want to us the living room as a party room. Hope this will work for us. Is there any place in Jaco that would have a central room for us to party together and then depart to the private bedrooms?
Any suggestion would be very much appreciated.

Thanks.....Pogo23

Good summary Lee. Question, if she is NOT all over you in the elevator, do you dismiss her?

Sorry cannot help you with Jaco have never been there. I arrive at the airport get a taxi get out at the Del Rey and that's pretty much it until I go back. IT has beem about four years since I had a room on the sixth floor with access to the balcony. If you have a living room you must have one of the suites that will open up onto the balcony. The girls will like that very much they enjoy playing out their late at night. Just ask Dallasman.
The downside of that is security. The doors that open from your room to the balcony or not the most secure thing in the world. Any one with a room that opens up to the balcony will have easier access to your room. They have done a lot of work on the hotel in the last two years so they may have improved the doors. Hope you enjoy your stay at the Del Rey.

The elevator test is about evaluating your selection. Although at that stage you can still decide to abort the mission. The only thing you will be out would be the $10. I would hope no one has paid the girl before they get to the room. A good evaluation is critical to enjoying your purchase. If the elevator doors closed and she is all over you chances are you have a well-trained professional who is more than capable of earning her money. In that case precede accordingly. If the door closes and she liens a shoulder into your chest and smiles chances are you have a semi pro who is hoping your going to be a nice guy. Directions will be required to receive full value. If the door closes and she started shaking like a leaf on cool day in October you have struck the jackpot. You have a newbie. Be gentle be kind and you can go wherever you want to go.

Taking Care of the Help : as mentioned about the guy who carrys your luggage. Be kind to the Help leave a few dollars for the made each day and you'll have no problem getting all the towels or whatever you need from housekeeping. Leave a few dollars with the security guard that checks the girls in and you'll find that one of them will step out the door with you as you cross the street to the monkey bar or Key Largo. Tips will help with the waiters at the restaurant too. Generous customers get their food brought across the street much quicker than those who are not so generous. Being generous with the bartenders will get you more attention to. Imagine paying a woman to pay attention to you at the Blue Marlin who would have ever thought of that it.

One or two last little notes: when checkout day arrives about an hour before you checkout return the key to the minibar to the check-in desk and tell them you'll be checking out in one hour. This will save you a lot of time wen you go to checkout for they will have already checked the bar and have your paperwork ready. Attached to your bill behind the counter will be all the little papers your loves signed to get into your room. If you would like a record of their real names and identifications just ask and they will give you the papers. If you do not ask they throw them away.

In Jaco, there is a dominicana, by the name of Cristina, that has for rent two very nice condos across from the Monkey Bar(1/2 block from BB) and also a 2 bdrm house with a 1 bdrm house right behind it on the same lot. These houses are 1/2 block from BB on the road to the Copa and very nicely furnished. Her # is 354- 6430. I have the number of her boyfriend in Jersey( who owns these units), if you need it. Tell her Rubi's friend sent you.
