The Hemingway Inn is a possible alternative to the "usual gulch hotels."
They are "chica tolerant"......with a chica fee......possibly negotiable.

Thanks, I got a booking at Hotel Doral. Will provide update on that one afterward. It might be nice to try something different. Price is right, that's for sure.

The Doral is fine. It is in a local neighborhood near Mercado Central that actually has some character if you like exploring local areas. Also closer to Paseo Colon MP's and many of the local clubs.Just taxi at night though with recent events around Del Rey/ Presidente nowhere is safe. I have stayed there as well as at Johnson around the corner. It is a good lot nicer than Johnson but still very local.rbc100

Taxi with a meter should be little more if any than a dollar around downtown area. Always get red taxi with meter.Only about 12 blocks from Del Rey. rbc100
