Guys; Just returned from a quick trip (4 days) to the US. Took USAir and had no problem with the return flight. They didn't ask if I was a resident when I checked in at the DCA aiport this morning. I was prepared to show a bus ticket to Managua if they did but it was not necessary. Used the electronic check in system and it gave me two boarding passes, one to get to CLT (thier hub) the one I needed to get to San Jose. No problems, no sweat, no fuss, no muss. Further, Costa Rican Imigration didn't blink an eye, just swiped my passport and stamped me. I'm good for another 90 days. Good to be home. LVSteve |

YO Expat: Too bad they didn't strip search you. Nevermind, much too much information. Just hope that you did not take anything out of the Archives in D.C. Don't want you and Sandy Burgler doing time together. Oh! I forgot. He got a slap on the wrist. Sorry if this seems political.....just a D.C. inside joke. |

It seems only American Airlines has this fetish with enforcing proof of flight out of Costa Rica unless you are a resident. Taca has never asked this of me. Guess US Air is "cool" too. Last flight back to CR on American I had a fat gringa agent at AA with attitude. I have business cards from CR, and was planning to drive MY car from CR to Panama within a week. I aslo have a ticket from Panama to USA to prove future plans. "Oh no sir, I can only check you to Miami...from there you will have to work it out. Its is $1000 fine for us to send you there without airticket back out". I ended up AGAIN buying a last minute ticket I DIDNT need to get INTO CR. These immigration policies are totally phucked up in my opinion. And AA too for being the only airline that apparently enforces this detail. LV...werent you getting your residency over there? How long has it been in process? |

Seems I remember LVSteve was asked by Continental in Vegas to prove he had a ticket for a flight out out of CR. The whole thing is total BS but if the airline wants to Phuck with you they have you over the barrel. |

Yes, I was asked by CO. I remember that because they were first airline other than AA to ever ask me. Also, To Tman. I still need to go back to Vegas (July) as one of my documents needs to be updated, notorized and authenticated BEFORE it can be sent to the CR consulate in LA. So, I've been involved about 6 months now and I'm sure it will be at least another 6. LV |

Par for the course LV...but once you have it I'm sure it will come in handy...if only to NOT have to have an exit ticket when you come to beautiful Costa Rica |
