yea...just came back from downtown SJ... is a ghost town with blockades everywhere. Should clear up by tonight...but anyone arriving to stay at the gulch hotels today are in for a mess. Good luck.

I took a slightly different route into town yesterday around 11am and had no problems.I came home around 6:30pm in a taxi with no problems.The demonstration ended yesterday late afternoon. It did look funny with all the streets around the Gultch almost empty.

It was not a strike but a demonstration by taxi drivers to put pressure on the government. It lasted only a few hours and will have no effect on your arrival or time in the gulch.

The demonstration was by the registered,licensed taxi drivers.They were protesting the pirate taxis who don't pay taxes and fees and cost them business by picking up fares.

meandering, that's how it strayed from the original post.

but, I'll tell how it strayed. It started 20 years ago with the 20 year old pics that Zip has recently posted from his archives.

I think that Circus is somehow involved (and his recent postings on a mysterious, crazed stalker is possibly tied into all this) and the taxi drivers are protesting deplorable conduct carried out in the back seats of thier taxis.

It's also possible that Jmac is the product, offfspring (or 'love Ch*ld') from these said deplorable, back seat activities 20 plus years past.

I could go on, but in a nutshell, this is how a taxi strike, gay family members, expatriate gringas, crazed stalkers and everything else that has gone wrong can be laid at the (foul) feet of Circus.
