Out of curiosity, does anyone have an opinion about the no AC in some of the rooms at the Sportsman during the summer months. Has anyone had a problem with this. My gut says I will be fine, but others have asked so I am asking myself.

Hotel Castillo does have AC. And that is always an option as well.

Thanks!

It is not so bad,,especially at night. The rooms are covered from the outside so well, they don't heat up like a hot box. But some people are from hot climates some from cold climates. It will depend on you and what you consider "hot" or "warm".

You know what they say about opinions... :o
I passed on the SL last trip since they had no rooms left w/AC, many guys will tell you the ceiling fan is adequate and it is for some but not for me, I like an afternoon chica or maybe a power nap and prefer to be comfy and not to sweat like a pig in my room on those warm humid afternoons.

Think a lot has to due with what kind of climate your body is acclimated to. Before I moved to CR I lived in Miami. I was use to hot and humid weather so never felt the need for AC when I was in San Jose.

If you are from Boston, Detroit, Seattle, etc. your experience may be different.

Frank according to staff within a couple months all rooms will have aircons. I stayed in the Illusion with aircon and frankly in 5 days I may have turned it on 45 minutes total. A new friend I met there stayed in one of the no aircon rooms and told me it was quite comfy. I cant speak of any other time of year besides now due to this being my first trip but I will say as of now no aircon is needed

I agree that it depends on your climate. I am from Florida and do not see this as an issue. But I have others traveling with me from NY who are very concerned about Central America in the end of May, and rightfully so. SO thanks for the input. I will pass this on and let them make their decission. I am staying at the SL. But with the Castillo being so close, it really is no big deal.
And I do not believe they will have the AC's installed by the ned of May. Or will they?

I am from NY and I stayed in SL last June (before the new wing). I don't like humidity at all. I'll admit it was pretty hot (during the day) at times, but I kept the door open (when I was able to  ) to create a nice draft and ran the fans (floor fan and ceiling fan) all the time, so it was alright. It wasn't bad at all. Besides, you don't really spend too much time in the room during the day anyway. And at night, it's actually pretty cool, so it's not an issue.

I have spent 4 nights on each visit during the summer and never found a/c necessary, in fact turned off the fan at night as it was to cool.

One thing is for sure... the chicas get goose bumps at the slightest cool breeze. I prefer it to be around 70 degrees in the room , but that is often too cool for them. I've had to deal with until bedtime and then tell the girl to get under the covers if she's cold. I can't sleep if the room is warm. Glad to hear about the a/c in every room soon. I was going to suggest window units if nothing else.
