Post subject:  Presidente Dress Code.........

During my last visit a week ago I didn't stay at the Presidente but I had lunch and dinner there and could see the frustration and confusion the new dress code was creating. We have the power to have management change, revise or assist us with this matter. At last check there are about 5,000 CRT members and I don't think they want to lose our business. I can see their position and are either addressing complaints or trying to maintain an image. Let's say 100 CRT members stay at the hotel a month(modest figure) each staying 4-5 days and spending roughly $300 dollars. That would be 30K per month and 360K per year and I'am sure this figure is low. We should have a floor reserved for CRT members based on the $ spent here. Suggestions:
1. Boycott the hotel....harsh but effective to change the dress policy
2. Ask the hotel to provide maybe vinyl knee length raincoats etc. for the ladies to put on when entering. They make enough off of the membership.
3. Supply our own coats and ask the hotel to keep them on hand just for CRT members use.
It's really up to us...just a thought......enjoy!

Sounds like a simple solution to the problem of skirt length. Most of the chicas have gotten word about the midriff showing and tattoos and carry a sweater or light jacket.

The rest of your post I respectfully disagree with. Having an entire floor reserved for CRT members would eventually self destruct. There would be times when there were not enough CRT guys staying to fill the floor. They then would put Ed & Emily eco-tourist in a room on that floor or maybe Patrick & Phylis parent and their 2 K*ds Karl & Kristian. CRT guys thinking the floor was occupied only by mongers might get a bit rambunctious at 3 or 4 AM causing the eco-tourists and the parents to loudly voice their displeasure to the management.

Boycotting the hotel is even a worse alternative. The hotel has walked a delicate line balancing their non monger guests and mongers guests. They give us a substantial discount and never never never charged a "guest fee" Monger friendly hotels, in the gulch, are not that many. Lets not get into a war with one of our oldest supporters.

Sure their are some out there who disagree with me and thats fine. A healthy dialog on this issue will be good.

Check again. Over 6,200 members! There's always great strength in numbers!

It sounds like they are really pushing the dress code policy as of late, must be all the family tourists in the hotel.(?) I fear your boycott tactic would not do much good since the hotel stays packed, doubt they would even miss 100 guests. They are really in a position to just laugh at your demands. Also I have the feeling the hotel seems to be doing more and more tourist business and needs us guys less and less, but maybe I'm wrong. Hell, it's hard to even get a room at all there anymore unless I reserve at least 2-3 months out. :?

I believe the service at the president is first rate. I actually like that they have some type of policy and are willing to enforce it if needed. I agree...I'm sure the girls have gotten the word and know how things work better than we do. Whether they have to barrow a sweater or jacket from a friend at the HRD, I'm sure they have it figured out.

As for me.... I have had no less than wonderful experiences at the Prez!

Strength in numbers only counts if the members due something proactive. It has been discussed here before how few members have even 5 posts and how few of the 6200 have never even been to Costa Rica.

It is like a union saying to a politician we have over 6000 members who will support you on this issue. If only 600 actually vote the number of members is not relative.

Post subject:  Nice input..........

But unless something is actually done it's all just talk. I will do my part. Maybe a host of calls to the hotel to inquire on the dress policy would get the attention of management and the number crunchers? Example call:

Hello,Iam a CRT member and was considering staying at the Presidente but heard there is now a new dress code for the ladies. After their explanation close the conversation off about being undecided if you will stay there.Merely a suggestion on the conversation.

Should be a cheap and effective approach. All we have to do is pick a time period...let's say during the week of March 19th etc....we place calls to the hotel. After they receive numerous calls I'am sure something will be done. While we represent a small portion of their business, it's large enough to be missed if it is lost. Enjoy!

It's hardly a "new" policy, and was addressed by the mgmt. a while back.

Admin1 has approached them in the past about things on crt's behalf and would probably do so again if needed, and would most likely be a more effective and reasonable approach than a barrage of phone calls.

My buddy had a girl turned away because she spent the previous night with another guest and was not "properly covered" when checking out.

Using the CRT name to put pressure on the Presidente is, I think, totally out of line. There is a very nice rapport established between CRT administration and the Presidente management and for anyone one member to take it upon himself to pretend to be acting on behalf of CRT is uncalled for.

Nandout, I suggest you PM admin 1 with your problems with the President before you take any unilateral precipitous action.

Hey are tattoos a problem a the Pres? If so I might have to change reservations, I have a fairly large tattoo on my right forearm and I won't be wearing any long sleeve shirts while Im there.

Nandout,
I agree with ID. This is good advice. Talk to Admin before doing anything, or you risk possibly screwing things up for all of us. If he has to, he'll handle it. He's got our backs.
