Gentlemen,
The news from my conversation with this hotel today is that former manager Leo is no longer there. Former Assitant Manager Kattya is now in charge as Manager. She was very accommodating in giving two VIPs I was helping get reservations the last 2 held back rooms for tomorrow night.

In asking her about our CRT deal, she said nothing is changed. Room discounts only apply to offseason as we have documented before. The $20 chica fees are waived for CRT VIP card members YEAR AROUND. SHe said desk staff would be aware of this policy, but with past problems at the front desk with some of our members getting charged chica fees and having to argue upon checkout...we would recommend you introduce yourself to Kattya when you come in and make sure she knows and communicates to the desk that you are a "VIP". She speaks almost perfect English, and seems to be very service oriented from knowing her the past couple years. Let us know via PM if any issues arrise with this transition.

Here is a most recent update. I was at the Copa on the nights of March 10th and 11th, 2006. I paid with credit card. A studio room was $94/nt. plus tax w/CRT card. Of course, I had a guest both nights. Had I paid in cash it would have been $90.00.

I still really like that hotel but the restaurant food is not very good anymore and it is pretty expensive. Seems Jaco has found out that tourism is good business. Everything is very expensive. Quick update on the Beatle Bar. ROCKIN!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell me talent isn't there. Right now, I swear to my CRT brethren, the talent level there is superior to HDR.

Since they do not give us a discount during season I am assuming that normal rate for that room is $94.00 + tax ($109.00+) but if you pay cash it is $90.00 total. Is that correct?

Glad to hear that it seems to have gotten the chica fee situation resolved. With Leo you never knew until check out if you were being charged.

Just next door is the Canciones Del Mar. Love this place. I know a group from the board who are going to be there this weekend so they can report on chica fees. Really nice rooms and atmosphere and I think it is actually cheaper.

Nice looking on the outside. The wireless network that I use at the Copa actually says it's the Canciones Del Mar network. Next time in CR, I think I'm going to do the majority of my stay in Jaco. Might check out the Canciones.

Hey, what happened to my avatar? LOL

Just in Jaco? You knuckleheads. jk Give me a shout and say hi when you are in town. Never meet any of the boys at the beach, only here in San Jose.

ThirdWorld: 12 of us (10 from St. Louis area, 1 from LA and 1 from San Fran.) will be at the Copa on April 20 and 21. First time trip for the two west coasters who just joined. If I recall, don't you have a biz on the main drag in Jaco? Wile Coyote

I've known Katia for a long time. She helped me track down my novia after I had lost her phone #. How many people would give a crap enough to do that? Copa will always be my place in Jaco.

Wile E...yeah man, kinda sucked. We gave the game away. Please, do send money. I have not renewed. I'm sure at some time I will get back on board. Just that I don't have any upcoming plans to go to CR, don't need to see the VIP pics and I have talked about virtually every subject that has come up on the board. Lots of new posters on here, let them have the reigns for awhile.

One thing I can say is that next time down I'll spend a bit more time in Jaco. TW, next time down we'll hook up, bro. :-)

The late great dapanz1
