Looks like AA will no longer honor Taca miles, as of June, 2006.
Here's what I received from AA, via their electronic newsletter:

TACA's AAdvantage participation ending soon.

Effective June 30, 2006, TACA flights will no longer be eligible for mileage accrual or redemption. http://www.aa.com/aadvantage

Earning AAdvantage Miles

Important Notice Regarding TACA Air Lines And The AAdvantage Program

Effective Date TACA / AAdvantage Program Participation Change
June 30, 2006 Last day to earn miles for TACA flights, including flights operated by LACSA and AVIATECA.
June 30, 2006 All award travel on TACA flights must be booked and ticketed.
June 30, 2007 All award travel on TACA must be completed.

I get the AA e-newsletter every month, and I thought that this bit of news would be important to several of the Taca fans on this site. It's definitely a bummer, and it's one less benefit to air travelers.

This is sad... Since TACA came to Chicago have used them many times, connections much cleaner and red eyes both ways. To my surprise, Customs and migration at ORD is a snap compared to MIA or DFW...especially at the 1:50 AM arrival.

Will have to start Distancia miles except TACA won't accept One World Status for upgrades or seat selection after that date..

TACA is changeing it's codeshare partner from American Airlines to United. It is asking the US Dept. of Transportation to approve the codeshare with United.
