Guys,
Heads up! I am looking for a beach gateway and I came across this place from past threads.

If you are planning a beach gateway to this place, make sure you read the fine print on CC authorization form. You are required to pre-pay the entire stay and their cancellation policy sucks! Even if you cancel weeks in advance, you don't get your money back. The best you can do is to get back 50% of what they charged you for your entire stay. THAT'S ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. In case of a family emergency or a work situation and I can't make it, I'm gonna lose about $300 for the 4 days that I would've booked there.

Cancellation Policies (per www.hotelparador.com/policies.htm):

Peak Season: (December 20th, 2005 to January 3rd, 2006)

60 to 30 days prior to the arrival date – 50% refund.
29 or less days prior to the arrival date - NO REFUNDS.

Green Season: (May 1st, 2005 to December 19th, 2005)

14 to 5 days prior to the arrival date – 50% refund.
4 days or less prior to the arrival date – NO REFUNDS.

High Season: (January 4th, 2005 to April 30th, 2005)

29 to 08 days prior to the arrival date – 50% refund.
7 days or less prior to the arrival date – NO REFUNDS.

That cancellation policy is really very restrictive.

Sometimes we wonder what would make a business adopt such a policy? Then we read on this board that one of our members is holding a room reservation at 3 different prime monger hotels for a peak travel period.

I do not condone the action of either but when we read about a particular business practice it is hard to know what motivated it.

Irish,
You make a very valid point here. And because of situations like this, I'm sure that the hotel is just trying to protect their interest. I also agree, that their policy sucks, but I can understand why they'd implement these type of restrictions.

Jmac........... You reading this !!?!?!

Just for the record, I stayed there recently and yes it states they will charge your card in full, but after filling out all the CC paperwork, faxing the authorization and receiving my confirmation via email.

I was not charged until I departed the Hotel... This is the second time I stayed there where they said they would charge my card but did not...

Just my personal observation. I would be curious to see how and if they could enforce the cancellation policy when the transaction is really not completed but thats a different matter. The place is nice and had two great visits there, with no issues on paying in full up front.
