Has anyone recently traveled on the 9:45am flight to SJ? I was wondering about the possiblity of overbookings. The flight I am taking is already 73% filled and it is still five weeks away.

I certainly will be a willing volunteer for a free ticket to paradise......

You certainly can hope but I would not put to much hope on it. AA has enough flights MIA/SJO that should there computers flash a warning that the are passing the historic no show factor they close the flight to further bookings and put new reservations on a later flight.

However you could get lucky, never hurts to try.

Out of WHICH AIRPORT ?!?!?!?

If you're talking about AA Flight # 971 out of Miami, then the answer is Yes. I flew it last month. I also flew it in November '05, October '05, August '05, July '05, June '05, and about a half dozen other trips.

I am also flying on Flt. # 971 in 4 weeks (actually 4 weeks from today).

The majority of times, it is a full flight, especially this time of year. Summer months are not too bad. They are cutting out that flight (# 971) some time in the summer, and they're only going to fly the 11:56 a.m. direct flight (flt # 937) from MIA to SJO. I only know this, because I booked my upcoming trip in September '06 on the 9:45 am flight, and a week later, they cancelled it and put me on the 11:56 am flight. When I checked on AA.com, they had completely done away with that flight.
