Post subject: | Hotel Cocal in Jaco |
I just wanted to say a few words about the Hotel Cocal in Jaco. My recent stay there stay was very enjoyable. I stayed in a pool side room for 110.00 a night and really enjoyed myself. The pool bar was right outside my room and stayed open until 10 or 11 pm. The staff was friendly and the place was totally chica friendly. The food was excellent and there is a small casino which slots are open all day and the tables are open at 7:00 pm. The room was nice and rather large. They do have construction work going on in the parking lot so the lesser expensive rooms adjacent to the parking lot are not that desirable right now but will soon be adequate after completion of the new condos. The Beetle Bar is 500 colones away I looked at the Paradise but had no interest at all in staying there I found it to be far less than expected. I also spent some time at the Copacabana and would stay there my next trip especially if they have a band. I have read allot about lack of things to do in Jaco during the day but I and my companions had a blast during the day. I found the key to be walking the beach to each individual bar. Talent was around it was just on the move. There was around ten girls mostly Columbiana at the Copacabana pool. The beach is the key; just walk the beach stopping at each bar. You will find what you are looking for. A side note to my trip is that I met the most enterprising K*D. Wing Nut and I were sitting in a beach front Restaurant and bar when a little boy comes up trying to sell us things. In his basket he had bracelets and little plastic containers of food and he was selling them in the restaurant. I thought to myself what a set of balls on this K*D. The bartender soon ran him off but he did provide humor for that afternoon. You've got to admire his ability to capture his target market so to speak ![]() I hope this review helps others. Xman |

I too stayed at Cocal in the past. I really liked it. No tv and no telephone, but I found plenty at the Beatle Bar to occupy me at night. There is a craps table at the Los Suenos Marriott nearby and there might be one at the Casino Amampola(sp?) also nearby. I don't believe there was one at the Cocal Casino however. |

With all due respect to Jim at the Cocal (as he is a Michigan boy), and not having stayed there, other than gambling, I think that there are better deals in Jaco, especially with the construction, which should be going on for a year or so. However, if that place floats your boat, I have never heard anything negative about the place, other than the price. |

Diablo, I met Jim he is a pretty nice guy. The construction isn't bad outside of the parking lot. There are know tv's or phone and those phone cards for the pay phones are phucked up but I really enjoyed my stay there. No chica fees and no hassles. I really had a good time there. Like I said previously the Copacabana is nice as well but it was full. It may be for Jaco but 110.00 a night for a place on the beach is cheap in my book but my book is Myrtle Beach (200.00+) |

Xman- Jim is a stand up dude, no question about it. I just posted(phone #s included), somewhere, about a 2 bdrm condo behind the Sunrise, across the street from the Monkey, a block from BB, which I think is a far superior deal for $130. This place blew my mind for convenience, quality, and price. I rented by myself, but for two guys, this would be a steal. My other favorite, as well documented, is the Tangeri, where I know everyone. Buena suerte |
