I can already hear the groans from those reading the title of this post, but I just wanted to add to the past hosannas concerning Casa Vino. I was lucky enough to get a nice break on the room rate for the suite and stayed there the whole time over Super Bowl weekend with my novia.

It was definitely unique and different from the standard hotel experience. First of all, the suite is actually more like an apartment, with a full kitchen and small dining area downstairs, and a large living room, bedroom, and bathroom with steam bath upstairs. There's also a small balcony right off the living room. The living room includes a full wall screen projector and DVD player (nice!!). The bedroom includes a wall unit air conditioner and has sliding doors to close it off from the living room and the street noise. I can honestly say that for the first time ever in San Jose I was able to consistently get a good night's sleep!

Even better for me, staying there gave me a feel for what it might be like to actually live in San Jose in a regular living situation type of environment. I liked it!

For those who don't already know, Casa Vino is a house that has been divided into two rental units, a suite and a standard room. It's located next door to Amon Plaza/Casino Paradiso almost directly across from the Dunn Inn. It has it's own private entrance off the street, and feels very secure. By the way, I also looked at the standard room and thought it was nice too, though probably more susceptible to street noise.

Anyway, if you have the urge to try something different with a little more privacy, give it a shot. You won't regret it.

Just wanted to mention, the Casa Vino house is great for partier and single guys too. We had a group of 4 go down with 2 in the house and 2 next door at the Amon Plaza, but everynight we had a party in the house, up to 10 girls hanging out, poker tournaments, even drinking games!. By far the best time I've ever had in San Jose. Casa Vino rocks!!!.
