Hello fellow mongers.....WeLL,,, I have done extensive research on airfairs from Miami and Ft.Lauderdale ,to the land of milk and honey (CR ).
I can't find any thing of a decent price. The cheapest I counld find was $ 456.50 thru Hotwire.com.......but the ticket has all kinds of restictions.

I have checked every month from Feb thru May. month by month
So.....if anyone finds GREAT fairs to CR..........PLEASE POST

Miami is usually the cheapest US city to fly out of, there's a fare on Martinair Holland that's good thru Mid February thru at least May. Here's an example available itinerary for $100 less than you found, its $356.72 for over Memorial weekend (includes travelocity surcharge). If using travelocity.com link to it through the CRT homepage and help support the board.

1 adult Total: USD 356.72
Flight: Martinair Holland flight 645 on a Airbus Industrie Jet
Depart: Miami, FL (MIA)- Wed, May 24 7:40pm
Arrive: San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO) - Wed, May 24 8:40pm

Flight: Martinair Holland flight 646 on a Boeing 737-800 Jet
Depart: San Jose, Costa Rica (SJO)- Tue, May 30 1:00pm
Arrive: Miami, FL (MIA) - Tue, May 30 5:55pm

Price on AA.com is $414.72 which includes price protection if fare goes down and matching any lower price you find if you booked through AA.com. Also includes any bonus miles for booking online. Why does anyone use Travelocity paying $5.00 for the privilege, no bonus miles and no price matching?

I THINK if you are persistant with it, you could still get your bonus miles.

I ended up booking my flight with delta from Halifax to New York with travelocity and the guy asked me if I had a rewards card that I wanted to use?

Im not sure if its actually standard procedure or not, but expedia and travelocity arent actually travel agents; their travel search engines for the most part.

You still recieve individual seat confirmations, and a print out as if you were to buy it off the company website.

It would probably be worth checking out more, or perhaps someone here with some airline experience would know?

The bonus miles Irish Drifter is talking about are the miles you get for booking online, usually an extra 500 or 1,000 miles. Continental used to be 1,000 but they reduced it to 500 however thy've added 500 bonuses for checking in online in each direction so you get 1,500 in bonuses.

No matter how you book a "published fare" (the airline website, travelocity, expedia, etc.) you'll still earn your frequent flyer miles and any other bonuses (eg. elite bonus miles). But not true for discount tickets from bucket shops like priceline.com.

Other reasons for booking online directly with the airline website, at least for Continental are the 24 hour refund policy, the low fare guarantee, and the 100% qualification for elite miles on discount fares.

The only reason for booking w/ travelocity.com I can see is for convenience for people not flying enough to care about miles and that don't mind the $5 surcharge. It's also easier when combining different airlines on the same itinerary. If you choose to use travelocity remember to get there by the link on the CRT homepage so that the board gets credit for the sale.

I almost always book direct on AA.com to fly American and have taken advantage of getting a reduction in my ticket when fares drop numerous times. I just called in an got a $60 deduction on a flight from Dallas in March that I booked on Monday for $480. Lets see, that is 3 sessions at Oasis. Life is good. rbc100
