Fares from Canada seem to be untouched, but fares from Miami and New York seemed to have raised ANOTHER 100$

Rodder,
Have you been reading the board at all lately? That has been a heavily-discussed topic. The fares are very high right now. All airlines are screwing us all. Some people just bite the bullet and pay it, seeing how it's still a better option than the US. The thing to do is keep checking fares frequently, they often have very limited time sales that last anywhere from a couple of days to a few hours. There was one on Taca about 3 weeks ago. I just missed it by 5 minutes, $386 from NY non-stop. Right now it's $606 NY-SJ for travel between now and June.

The fares should come back down to reality once the high-season is ending in April.

I have bin checking every day using different dates. They are offering the best fairs if you book late 7-15 days before you fly out

I have had the best results using

I just booked a flight on TACA yesterday from LAX for $522 (that included all taxes) for early March.

Rodder

check out www.sidestep.com, cheaper flights, assuming you are coming out of Richmond. I came up with 596 on a 1 stop through Houston and 544 out of Norfolk through Atlanta...

and no I have no interest in that web site, although I should,
use it all the time..

I got very lucky on a 3 AM search, Chicago through Philly on 2/4 to 2/12 for 397. Plus good flight times, less than 7 hours with short layovers on both sides......

See you for the SB

There is a blip on the radar.
Apparently US Air/AmericaWest has a sale thru June 6, $408 from ATL.
Delta did almost match within $110 but has dropped that sale.

Check from your city. Use the airline site.

Mobissimo air fare search engine apparently does not search USAir or AmericaWest and does not show the low fare. :(

Orbitz shows a low fare from LAX on US Air. Its the first time I've seen them low from the west coast.

AAlines is running a Latin America sale that gives a little relief from some locations.I just booked for $480(taxes included) out of Dallas for late March which is about $200 less than fare a few days ago.RBC100

The above posters are correct American and USAir are having a little fare war. Travel Mon-Thu Feb 6-Jun 15; there is no advance purchase required on these fares; a 3-night min. stay. Basically, Phoenix, Charlotte, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh to these cities is about half the normal price on American Airlines. And US Air is having a systemwide sale. Sale includes Belize and Guatemala in addition to San Jose.
