We haven't heard for sure but it seems that we may be homeless upon our arrival in Costa Rica beginning 30th of Jan. We also know that, with all the arrivals for Super Bowl weekend, the normal places like the Presidente, SL and the Castillo will be booked.

We are looking for a suite that has a balcony close to the gulch.

Any fresh ideas would be appreciated.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Wish I had an answer to your problem Dave but unfortunately do not.

Think everyone understands that La Mansion acted in good faith taking reservations. Government being government sometime disrupts the best of plans.

I think the dynamic here is what kind of assistance La Mansion gives you. It will be easy to throw up their hands a say gee sorry but it was not our fault.

If they are the first class operation they appear to want to be they will find you alternate accommodations if they can not open in time for your arrival.

Good luck and let us know how things turn out.

Hey Dave...sorry to hear that you have a problem with a place to stay. You seem to want a large leap from "homeless" to "a suite with a balcony" A couple of suggestions might be to first PM TMan who is involved with the ownership of the Mansion and see if he can help you out of your problem. If not,you might want to contact Nixon at the Clarion. They sem to come up with rooms for guys at tough times.

Tman is a personal friend of mine. I know the delays with openings and this is why I have not booked there. I do not wish to be homeless either. I will definitely check out La Mansion, but I want to see it before I am booked there.

Listen to VB and contact Nixon at the Amon. I am sure they can probably help you. Also, find out about Casa Vino's main unit, it seems plush enough for your standards. :P

BTW.....how many days are you going to be stranded?

We are working out a couple options for Dave and his wife...and I apologize to him here in this forum as well for the last minute stress. I realize vacation time is a treasured commodity and do not take this situation lightly. Our staff is doing everything possible to give he and his wife some options that will hopefully rescue the situation.

Meanwhile, we will be very careful with future announcements and dates for opening. This is a very unexacting science here in Costa Rica. Ah...the joys of offshore business and investing...

Sorry again Dave...

Tman

Good to hear that reply. Guest service like that will make the venture a success.

Good luck to TMan and his partners.

75 hours until we touch down and we are still looking for a place to call home. Maybe we will stay at Motel Eden for a day or so while we look for something. I have to be honest and say that this sucks. Now, we will have to spend time looking and moving and expending time and energy on things that we thought we had settled. It is not the change that bothers us. It is not being made aware that this was even a possibility.

Thanks for the input from everyone. GG, we will be in San Jose until Feb 13th.

Wish us luck. It looks like we are going to need it.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

59 hours till touchdown. Californication, thanks for the input on the Scotland Apts and the other one. Does anyone know of a list of these type places that I can work off of? We are trying to stay close to the downtown but we may not have much of a choice.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Dave,

Sorry do not have a list.

Here are a few places you might try so you have a place to stay why you look for something:

Apartments Sudamer
Calle 7 y Avenida 14
506-221-0247 / 506-381-3183

Royal Dutch Hotel
Calle 4 y Avenida 2
hotelroyaldutchcr@ice.co.cr
506-222-1414

Apartotel LaSabana
Sabana Norte (easy cab ride to the gulch)
www.apartotel-lasabana.com
506-220-2422

Since you are going to be with your wife and hopefully only bunking in at these hotels for a night or 2 you might want to look into these they are not chica friendly. You can bring a chica in but the guest fee is high.

Holiday Inn

Sleep Inn

With regard to the Hotel Eden. This hotel is intended for phucking, and the rooms are rented for 12-hr periods. Unless I missed something in the translation, I was told, by the staff, you cannot leave your bags etc., and then return at a later time. I am not sure why this is. I think the rooms there are great and would have liked to have stayed there for my entire trip but was not allowed to.
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Just to clear the air...La Mansion has made arrangements at Amon Plaza for a suite and we are covering a good portion of the cost. We have emailed and phoned Dave and hope it ends up a good solution for him. All other chica friendly hotels near downtown are booked...at least any of the quality level we think Dave expects. At the same time, if someone has a better idea for Dave, I'm sure he is still open to other options.

As for predicting the possibilities of this happening, it is quite impossible in this life to advise anyone of all possibilities, especially in a country like Costa Rica. All of the hotel and business openings I have known of in Costa Rica have had similar issues and delays, including the Sportsmens Lodge. All have rebounded from initial frustrations and been very successful. I have no doubts we will also and I hope once we get open for sure, you all will give us a try...it truly is a marvelous place...

Ding Dong: Thanks for the information.

Others Please: Has anyone stayed at the Junior Suites at the Amon? I cannot get much info on the website.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Up until yesterday I had a reservation at El Rincon de San Jose which is pretty close to the SL and has NO chica policy. I think this would be a better atmosphere if you are indeed bringing your wife.
You can get in touch with Sylvia at "info@hotelrincondesanjose.com".
They were very pleasant and attentive.
Good luck.

Thanks to all that replied. We have notes in hand from the posts and copies of the various web pages. We will be shopping the first couple of days for a place to stay. Please let us know if you have more info on apartment hotels or short term rentals. It looks like we will not be able to get what we are looking for in a hotel.

Wish us luck!!!!

Have a Great Day,

Dave
