They did come down this week and we are going back to hand cut potatoes this week. It has been three years now on no commercial fishing of shrimp and lobster supposedly to let the stocks come back. I have the suspicion that it has more to do with pollution. All our seafood comes from Chile

We should talk about lobster.

Have a trip scheduled for Memorial day. And I start thorough;y scanning the board a couple of months in advance for anything I think might be related to trips. Saw this thread and how it got completely twisted with egos. Reminded me of why I decided to let my membership go several years ago. Now I have somewhat of an understanding of some of the egos and just kind of appreciate the read.

I've had three trips and always stayed at La Amistad. Really have appreciated the place and everything but that ******* train. Last trip I was in the third floor room that could easily double as an apartment. Very nice but it seems as if the train was in the room with you. The guy that holds the sign so the train did not blow it's horn was always late. Menu and food was great except some of the items were not available. Hotel is very very clean. Staff is incredible, friendly accomadating.

I won't stay there again because of the ******* train!

I checked out the Castillo last trip, bar and dining were in a giant room and staff was friendly. Staying there this trip and look forward to the hospitality. Menus are online and look like a great varied selection. Matt said in a previous post they were tweaking them on my last trip.

I enjoy spending time at SL but for some reason just don't want to sleep there. Bill and his staff have obviously spent much time on perfecting costumer service. Food is great but only eat a meal or two because I get all-inclusive at Castillo/Amistad.

I'll give my detailed perspective on Castillo after trip. Probably won't give much of a report on Chicas or Ticas or Putas or whatever I'm supposed to call the ladies because the board is read to my favorite as soon as I get to the airport to come home and always wife up with a legend anyway. I did have a few others I typically spent time with but received RFM from them and my rule is when I get a RFM the girl has to go.

Great choice, Dtex. A few of my mates and I will be at the Castillo for the Memorial day weekend and a few days before. We do breakfast at 7:00 a.m. - or at least get a cup of coffee and hang out in the bar/restaurant area around that time. Then we order up our all-inclusive breakfast. If you have not yet added the all inclusive package to your room I would highly suggest that you do so. The $10 daily fee is well worth the food and drink that you will receive. The bar opens around 11 a.m. Depending on the day of the week, it will be Ernesto or Monica behind the bar. They are both a lot of fun. I look forward to meeting you. We tend to hit Zona II (Pension 506) in the late- morning or early afternoon. Then we walk over to the Sportsman's Lodge for a drink or two around happy hour at 5 p.m. We either have dinner at the Sportsman's Lodge or we go back to the Castillo for dinner. Then we head over to the Del Rey. We bring a few girls back to the Castillo and hang out downstairs for a few drinks before going upstairs to the penthouse for a party.

I'm new on this board, but I'm not a Costa Rica newbie. Please accept the invitation to join us for breakfast or an adventure or two.

Chicas on site, many are good looking and good providers
Lots of gringos if you want to get advice or find a wingman
Free sports on TV, including all pay per views (MMA, Boxing)

Amistad
All-inclusive option
Excellent food
Quiet/more relaxed atmosphere

-Security isn't an issue at either place. I'm not even sure what you mean by "security", like people getting into your room at gunpoint? CR isn't Colombia, no need to worry about it.
-Protecting yourself from und***ge chicas is YOUR responsibility, not the hotel's. In the end, if you get busted, you are going to "pound me in the ass" prison, not the hotel employee/owner, so use good judgment. Don't take young-looking chicas, or take the risk that she is using a fake ID or she has slipped through. And don't overdo on the booze, it plays tricks with your brain.

I love it. "pound me in the ass prison". Good one!
