When I was there last month, work was going on. There was a lot of work to do, but men were working. I don't know what inside information Chilimike may have, but I hope he shares it.

Last i was told by Darren a couple weeks ago was that they were waiting on Permits for some of the renovations. There was some work going on , but i didnt investigate as I rather wait for the big reveal....

FWIW the Gulch Rumor Mill mentioned Hemingway was also purchased by Amistad and renovations will extend thru to the Hemingway, also that Amistad was/is optioned to the Hospital Calderon for purchase...

Rumors are mostly false, but sometimes they can be true. Maybe it's time for some clarification from LA regarding Castillo, Amistad, and Calderon Hospital. It may be helpful for loyal customers of LA that have trips planned in the future, or are trying to plan something. Just my thoughts.

I tried to make a reservation for late Oct. but was told they will not book anyone until they can be certain the hotel will be ready.
I can understand that BUT, for heavens sake, in January they said completion was expected in April. In February they said they were 70% done.
Now they cannot even be certain they will be complete in October.
There is clearly more to this story than meets the eye.
I know it is CR, but can any project be that big of a clusterfu*k?

Scores will be reopen very soon. Putting finishing touches now. New name will be The New Tavern (TNT). I believe the booze license should be in place this week.

We added 9 Rooms and complete gut rehab of the bar restaurant (that the last owner let licenses expire) we also added 3rd and 4th floor. We will not open until all permits are n place. A fast way to get shut down in costa rica

The plan is to open the Castillo and eventually convert the Amistad into a Medical Building and long term apartments (over the course of 2 years.) That is why We will have 6 Penthouses and two rooms with balcony at the Castillo, 4 queens and the rest will be king rooms at the Castillo. New rooms, no train and same great staff. win, win and win. We are having a problem with the restaurant permit due to parking availability. It comes down to the number of seating at the bar/restaurant. We may have to shrink the bar a little to add two parking spaces. I told the contractor not to start building until we have all permits in place.

We looked at the Hemingway but could not justify the price for the building. It has many issues that we feel can not be overcome for the price
