If you think this was a well planed out crime to get CC info... What did they get

CC #s of maybe 1000 +/- gringos who keep track of thier transactions :D ,many who may have canceled thier cards... get Wal-marts info then you got a nice pool to work from

The banditios were after money... when they did not find much they grabed the computers and fled... got to be more money in the TVs in the place

Bet that Computer is in a river

Amazing! Just how many CSI episodes have you watched to give you the incredible ability to solve this crime from 2,000 miles away?
Thanks!
I think Bill was the getaway driver and planned the whole thing so his insurance co. would buy him new computers. Plus he has the passwords, I'm going to check my card now to see if any charges have been made at HLH.

I think we should vote Mugsy the lead detective on this case. It is like an armchair QB on a Sunday afternoon. If you don't feel comfortable with the way Bill is handling it then you are probably better off somewhere else. You can't take a mongering attitude on everything. Trust, Bill is doing everything right in finding out what happened. I am sure justice will be dealt, and dealt with extreme predjudice. So cancel your card and relax. Or don't, but make sure you know what kind of person your are talking about before you make any assumptions or accusations. Bill is an incredible guy.

BILL -- I am really sorry to hear about the incident. You have always taken care to ensure a safe venue. It is clear that the robbery was assisted by an “insider” just a Bill and others have pointed out. SL is not on a high traffic area. You have to know where it is and you have to deliberately go there. It is not on a thru-traffic route.

My experiences with reentering the SL after the gates have been closed is that the guards either recognize you as a guest of the hotel and let you in or they ask for some form of evidence that you belong inside. I have seen the guards not let people in who were not guests of the hotel.

Bill's response to the one who refers to himself as Mugsy was on point. Not only was Musgy's statement weak and pathetic it was an insult to Bill and it was a insult to those who know and respect Bill. His hard work has provided us with a safe experience year after year.

Musgay knows nothing about life in CR. In my own case, I have taken significant strides to protect my home and property, but when employees have access to your property they can steal you blind despite the fact that you have taken steps to prevent it, to lock down your valuables, to set up an elaborate system of cameras and alarms -- employees will steal.

Part of that is due to the fact there are virtually no consequences for getting caught stealing. Theft is a socially acceptable fact of life in CR. Theft and fraud are what they do.

PlaneCrazy – Irish Drifter is right, the 13 cops that you saw walking between the SL and the Zoo were on their way to the police station up the road.

And what exactly what were the other three (armed)guards doing during all this? Its not like the place takes up a lot of area. Sure the new guy gets fired but not arrested. The obvious choice right but it could be he was just the fall guy because he was new. And if this was planned out as an inside job targeting a coulple clunky oid computers you think they had somebody lined up to crack them or better yet the passwords. An inside job and one of four is in on it and the thieves were not confronted. You don't think that the inside guy had a rough estimate of how much cash would be available and would it be worth the risk to confront three (armed) guards. What do the guards do all night sleep in shifts. This account smells like shit. It seems there is alot more to this caper than is being told. Management should be contacting all the people who stayed there not just posting on CRT.WTF 8)

fwiw i get where you are coming from mugsy. i think people take exception with the tone your concern was delivered with and the insinuation that bill is not being proactive in protecting those who may have had a cc compromised.
he stated in abundance of caution to cancel cc's used in the last 12 months and made clear the parameters of his concerns.
you really have no idea if or what he has done in addition to posting here.
when other corporations or businesses are compromised it comes out as an announcement. if the local restaurant gets its computer stolen its not like you get a personal phone call or email. it would be nice but i have yet to see it. after all many times that info left with the computer.
and even if its backed up properly can you imagine the man hours involved in retrieving and contacting every person?
if you think you are possibly compromised i think maybe you might feel fortunate to have heard about it anywhere at all and take the desired action.
the website you deride may have saved you a lot of hassle.

Gentlemen,

This web site in our opinion is by a far distance "STILL THE BEST" for information regarding CR for ranging topics from "smack talk" to "Hotel recommendations" to "Tours"...etc.

This is a serious topic for us at Sportsmens Lodge. I feel this thread should stay open for any further information that may affect our customers former & future. When we have updates I will comment so that our customers will be informed. If a new thread needs to be opened in the future we will still inform our customers on any updates that may help. Still waiting for the official response from the two local CR police investgations for information & insurance purposes.

All the Best,

Bill
