I would never let a police officer search my property without probable cause. I have had them tell me they will hold me until they get a warant I just tell them to go get the Phucking thing, but be prepared to defend their actions. I don't have anything to hide as far as the police are concerned, I have just seen these tactics abuse too many people.

Oh, and 1 final word on those license plate cameras--they may deter the dumber, more opportunistic thieves but breed smarter crooks who would use stolen plates/ cars, come by boat etc. and possibly wreak even greater havoc. A rough analogy would be hand sanitizers which kill 99% of microbes but strengthen the other 1%--that's why I never use them. Soap and water (analogously, ordinary security measures and good police work) will do the job. It seems these residents want to reclaim their idyllic past but that's not going to happen--genie in the bottle and all that.
