The reason why this topic keeps coming up is that some of our members haven't been down there since this rule has taken affect and they have heard about it, but really didn't give it that much thought.

It true... the rule is here to stay, so I am staying other places.

Well old buddy, since you told me, and I have read it here, I am more than prepared. I really hope others prepare themselves by reading the postings by guys who have been there lately.

Another thing real quick that I don't remember being mentioned.

A couple of years ago the Presidente changed rules where you could only take 1 chica at a time to the room, unless you had the master suite. A close buddy of mine who is a major player in the CR scene (Ace knows him) , used to stay there several times a year, but chose to move to another hotel. For the context of his purposes, I don't blame him. He likes two chicas at a time, and made arrangements to have his fantasy, but at another hotel.

Still, with both of these changes, the Presidente is almost 100% full year round.

Most people don't react well to changes.

I really don't quite understand the argument or situation of an 'older' Gringo with a much younger chica. In Costa Rica it is not uncommon
to see an older man with a much younger female. While most people
in the US probably would disapprove, most Ticos and Ticas think nothing of it. I've asked Tico friends of mine what they think when they witness
it, and they have told me that they don't see anything wrong with it, they think 'what a lucky guy he is'! Sure, there probably is a little resentment,
but that's certainly understandable. Obviously the Presidente has
implemented the dress code policy to appease and not offend their 'other' guests (the eco-tourists). But...it is Costa Rica after all, and what about
the saying 'when in Rome, do as the Romans do'?

IMHO it doesn't matter what the Ticos think, it is about the perception of the visitors to the hotel. The workers at the Pres. know what is going on, but most of the guests don't.

Let's be honest, we are sex tourists. We are the dark side of the tourists industry. We are the ones the baptist ladies in the south dont want to know about. We are the ones who have media make reports about us (remember the Detroit cops?) for doing something legal and accepted in Costa Rica. We are the ones the hotel wants to do business with, but doesn't want their guests to know we exist.

If the hotel wants discretion, then give them discretion. By now we all know how things are, time to adapt or move on.

Amen! Great to-the-point post.

Morazan is often available but not the greatest place.
SL is mostly unavailable even 6 and sometimes 8 weeks out.
Castillo isn't much more available than the SL.
Del Rey the belly of the beast turns me off.
Amon is in and out of business so risky to reserve there.

Presidente has lots of English speakers, they put you on a waiting list for rooms when they have part of your reserves but not all of it, they follow up on the waiting list, they respond to emails, they have more available rooms on short notice than anywhere except maybe the Morazan, their cancellation policy is quite liberal, I can usually stay my entire stay in the Presidente instead of a night here and a night there, no hassle switching me among different rooms during my stay in the Presidente, they have a great free breakfast, they usually have lots of staff in the lobby, when I call for an iron and board it is there in about 3 minutes flat, the safes are great (slide the card through to open and close), the showers are the best with plenty of hot water, the phone/message system works great, 42 dollars for a standard room is a great price, a small but nice gym on the 7th floor and let's not forget the free wireless internet.

I know... a great advertisement for the Presidente, however I'm just pointing out my experience to those that haven't stayed at the Presidente and are in the decision process. Like DEAR_JOHN says, if mongers simply adapt, their stay will be a pleasant experience.

I seriously doubt that 35% figure.

I agree with DEAR_JOHN on this one.
I would have a real hard time believing that mongers from this board (and all the other monger boards combined) are 65 % or the Prez's occupancy. Ain't no way. I'd be surprised if monger occupancy at the Prez is more than 10%. YMMV.

If all it will take is the purchase of a $ 5 nylon windbreaker to cover up and escort the ladies into the Presidente, I will continue to patronize this hotel as I have always had a good experience staying there.

Not totally accurate. Originally they were turning chicas away due to to much cleavage or their navels being exposed. The chicas learned quickly and came to work equipped with a sweater. Then they started turning them away based on skirt length. A windbreaker will not help in that situation.

Guess the chicas are going to have invest in full length rain coats. After all it is the rainy season.

I can't help but wonder if some of this is a power play by security guards making a year what some rich Americans make a month.

The figure comes from a manager at the Presidente, there are many people that are not on Boards and some on business, but still do the chicas.
In addition I hope you make more in a month than a security guard makes in a year. If a security guard makes 4K a year he's lucky.
If you don't believe me ask Irish D. or Projilo, I'm sure they know.

Why not just purchase a nice sky blue Burka for your chica. I hear they're the latest fad in Afghanistan. From what I hear, they are very inexpensive.

I think the prez would prefer that we wear dread-locks , sandals, & pot leaf tee-shirts. Our "novias" should all have pale skin , greasy blonde hair, knobby knees , bushy armpits and smell like shit. Basicly, if we want the good treatment we've had in the past, we need to disguise ourselves & our chicas as filthy eco-tourists.

Ive talked to a bunch of different people at the hotel over the past few days.

From what Im hearing and gathering, they arent really standing up for eco tourists, but rather for everyone other then mongers. The businessman, the families on vacation to Costa Rica, tour groups, eco tourists, whatever.

Like some of you have said their going pretty big name, because why hold yourself back when you have the potential to knock dead any other hotel in SJO?

People are filing complaints, or rather questioning why these young 18-19 year old latinas are entering the hotel with older guys, at such a high rate.

It makes sense of kind of. Its probably a few overly retarded gringas who think their stuck in some whore house, and check out to find a new hotel.

Although we can all go "yeah well who the phuck cares about miss eco tourist", they make up as much if not more of the business then we do. They book tours, they pay more, end of the story.
