I just got back home from a week at La Amistad. It is everything that Danielson described. I had a wonderful time. Mat and Don and the whole staff do a great job. Try the Pork Chop....betcha can't eat one!

+ 1 !!

Tell ya what - I can eat, but it took everything I had just to finish the Pork Chop dinner at La Amistad!
It was outstanding!!! Jose is a great chef for sure!

the pork chop is great but its a scam. push the pork chop. after a guy finishes one of those he's nearly done for the day. you can barely walk let alone eat or drink anymore.

This is so true. My girl and I split the pork chop one night and it left us both full but still wanting more.

I stayed there on my last 3 visits and I never had an issue with train noise. I loved their breakfast menu and it was always included with the stay. I am looking forward to stay at Amistad at my next visit.

I just made my reservation for 8/9-8/13 from reviews here and advice of N2TECHNO. Thanks everybody.

Gonna be a blast finally meeting up with N2TECHO. Vertigo + lindas chicas = fun fun.

Anyone know if there is a techno club out in Escazu?

one of the clubs in el pueblo should fit the bill. Why drive all the way out to Escazu?

I think more hotels should offer such a thing. Even drink coupons at the bar. Hell why not? You get guys in, give them say 2 coupons for each. Who just gets up and leaves after a few drinks?! You get a few guys in there. They start talking. A few girls and stories, all of a sudden you have food ordered and little fiesta going on.

I think instead of trying to compete with the BM why not just beat them. Blow them out of the water. Alcohol costs are highly inflated. Even if you give away 2 beer. The odds of you coming out on top are pretty high.

Back from a great trip, not counting the dental work. Thanx to Matt and Don as well as to the rest of the crew at AMISTAD. Everything was as good or better than advertised. Excellent food and service, great location. Met a bunch of great people and came away with a new friend from the US. I would highly recommend the all inclusive for newbies as it takes the worry out of finding places to eat on your first trip. The lounge and bar were great, you could sit and talk with fellow travelers, no "pests". Plenty of places close by for that. Hats off and look forward to my trip later this year!!

I stay at the Amistad & do like the food there but if that's the highlight of your trip something is seriously wrong

I would like to chime in that I too truly enjoyed my stay @ La Amistad this past week. Stayed in Rooms 304 (queen) and 211 (king bed), both excellent choices. No problem with train noise, hardly ever bothered me. Carlos and Rudy provide outstanding personalized service. The queen rooms need a little sprucing up about which I had conveyed to matt but king rooms 211 and also 210 are well furnished. breakfast was pretty good. I only hope they provide more discount for stays over 5 nights as it really adds up if one spends a week or more and leaves little money for single moms in distress
I also liked Paseo Colon area a lot.

Matt and Don are truly remarkable!!! Don offered free ride for us to the airport. He had Rudy arrange a pick up for us at 4:30 am for free. Amistad will be the place for me and my friends to stay going forward. I love this place!
