I don't like to spend extra money getting to & from the airport in "official" cabs & hotel shuttles. We all use regular taxis getting around town-to dinner, to nightspots, back to hotels etc., make em an offer for an airport run & save money like I do. On July 17, after exchanging money & paying exit tax upstairs at airport I negotiated a 9k fare from a taxi driver dropping off a passenger, to my hotel in Barrio Amon-$18. Leaving hlh after my final session at 1pm Sunday I negotiated the same fare with a red taxi driving along Ave. 9. Hey, these guys need business & are willing to deal, just like the chicas!

I used Interbus last week from the airport to SJ. It was the second time I've used them. They were waiting for me as I exited the terminal. I was the only passenger, and I arrived at the Morazan in about 20-25 minutes. Fantastic. I'll use them again. $11.40 (they had a 5% discount) sure beats $28 or $30 for a taxi!

Outstanding advice. I will try that.
I like interbus but they can take while to get the bus after you arrive and are on the curb and to wait for other passengers. One time I must have gotten a bus with a one cylinder engine--everything was in slow motion. They are fine if you arrive in the morning and have time to spare before checking in to your hotel but if you arrive late and have "that itch that can only be scratched at the HDR or the KL," you need to get there fast. Also, I have found that paying on their website to be hit or miss, with difficulty getting refunds if you are double charged.
