I sure did! 8) I highly recommend using Yapta.com for tracking airfares. Now I will be home in 30 minutes after I land instead of 2 or 2 1/2 hours driving from IAD or DCA at 1 in the morning. :D

I often stay at the Castillo and am trying to book a room there right now for next month's trip. Neither email seems to be getting me a response.

I think it's best to call them on the phone. That's what worked for me. ph: 011 (506) 2221-5141 They responded to my earlier email after speaking to them.

Are you sending the e-mail to <hotelcastillo@racsa.co.cr>? Darren always responds my e-mails. It takes about three days, but he is very reliable. Also, as the previous post adviced, it is a good idea give them a call. Marta probably will answer the phone if you call during the day and she is helpful and friendly.

That is one of the emails I used. I just sent it two days ago so maybe the response will come. What do you get charged on your phone bill to call CR?

It is not expensive to call to Costa Rica. The price depends on your long distance carrier. I have a plan with AT&T and it is a little cheaper to call Latin America. I pay 17 cents/minute. I hope Darren reply to your e-mail soon.

The rooms from 13 up to 18(?) are on the first floor facing the garden and the rancho if I recall. All of the back rooms I have been in have A/C, though it is rarely needed. I've stayed in most of them at one time or another.

I will be at the Castillo May 20-25. Its my third time staying there. The staff is great. There is a really cute girl that tends the bar out back.

How are the Standard Rooms at the Castillo?

I'm not one for much luxury or frills in my room...as long as it's safe, clean and relatively quiet, I'll be a happy camper. No A/C is ok since I'll be down in June.

Should the Standard Room fit my bill? The rate certainly does.

Cal,

The Castillo is pretty much what you described, for filling your needs. They have a great staff, as well. A good value for the money.

Here is the updated email address hotelcastillo@racsa.co.cr I have stayed there several times with the most recent time being approximately 6 weeks ago. The place is very nice, management and staff is great and very accommodating. Nice place to stay but not as much action as SL. Not even close. Have patience with the email reply, Darren often takes a couple of days to reply, he works in Tico time. lol :P
