I walked by there this morning. Across the street from the Hotel Castillo, and down the hill the distance of one building is a Bible thumper place. At least it appears to be so from the outside signage. I don't remember what the signs say, I just remember thinking that it was a place that was incongruent with its neighbor down the hill (NF), up the hill and around the corner (SL) and directly facing it (based on the posts contained herein) (Castillo).

Anyone know the rate at the Castillo lately? Going in January. I thought they gave VIPs a 25% discount last year with cash payment. Plus no taxes.

60 dollar room for $45.
70 for $55

Something like that. Anyone stayed recently?, or know the deal for Jan?

Thanks for the PM!

I dont know why I even ask...Castillo always seems like the best buy for the buck in the Gulch when it comes to a room. Close to alot of other places and also bar and restruant on site that has some tica traffic.

I'm here right now and there is no more "tica traffic" . The new restaurant people don't allow it. :( Do not know if that will continue. I see no difference in food business than before, although they did have a nice Sunday afternoon special of chicken and rib for 2500. The menu items are pricier than before. The back bar is open every night, not so much the front. It closes earlier now. But as for now no girls. I did find a few of the old regulars around town.

Wow, thats kind of a drag...no Ticas? In May there were 10 a night popping in. Several even in the afternoon. Not all great, but at least they were women. Alot bounced back between SL even then, so maybe they are up there. I liked Elena the Colombiana.

Big Mike from the Hemingway was almost always there, Klaus, a few others that the names escape me, usually every other night. Heck food was pricey enough then. Back bar nice, but I can only sit with only guys for so long....oh well, probably be changed again by January anyway. I think I will squeeze in a couple of MPs this trip, if I can remember where Bang Bang showed me.

It is my understanding, that although the chicas are frowned upon for hanging out in the place looking for business.....it is OK for a gringo to be accompanied there by a chica for drinks or a meal. Can anyone further clarify the policy?

I would think that sooner or later, there would be some flexibility with the chica policy.......almost would have to be when the restaurant/bar shares the same building with a very chica friendly hotel. :?

Since Las Palmas is trying to attract a hicher class clientel I observed them gently disuading chicas from coming in to the bar by themslves by telling them in Spanish that "this isn't the HDR." That said, they were polite to mongers who brought girls in with them. This intel is two weeks old...

As for Klaus Danish the bar regular, he is there and I wish I was too...although I infuriated him with my conservative political views. But, a beer or two later, all was forgotten.

I'm bringing the working girls to the bar every night. Kind of in defiance. Have one coming over at 9:00 tonight. Hope it does change and you're probably right, there is no restaurant business tonight so they will do something soon to get people in. Javier told me the girls kept the customers away they wanted :?: I don't understand that one. One of the main reasons I like Castillo is the girls there if I didn't want to go out a night.
Klaus is well and good. Says the new people are OK.
