Wow...opened a can of worms. I understand where you are all coming from and the points that you have expressed.
The price of an apt. there for $250 doesnt bother me. Less than hotel and more freedom. Safety is the only sacrifice and maybe the dciding factor. As for knowing SJ and the area. I do. I was there 6 times last year, and once already this year. But even 14 trips doesnt make me a guru on the subject. I have walked from the DR at 3-4 am to the SL. Not smart! 99% of the time I take a cab. I am calling tomorrow for more info on the apt to see what its about.
Break ins? Whats the chance of someone following you to the apt. and forced entry?
I dress down for the most part, no jewelry, watch or flashy items. Still under thirty but smart enough to use common sense and self preservation. I am not going to walk into a confrentation, or risk injury/death for $50.
As for checking into other papers and outlets for an apt. I have been and several friends there are doing it for me as well. I'll use that for a longer stay in SP for the school. I have found 3/3 in SP for $650/M. I'll take that in a heart beat. Got a friend here in the states that has 2/2 for $1150. Sold. But seriously, I am looking at other outlets in that regard. Keep ya posted on what I decided and if I get the apt, I'll post the experience and if I'd do it again! Thanks!
