Pro my amigo. I think you are one of the most knowledgeable posters on this board. A little unnecessarily "long winded" for my taste but certainly very knowledgeable, informative and a great help to newbies if they can wade through the verbiage to get the message. Keep up the good work and remember...more is not necessarily better :D

Hey J, did you ever wonder why Hotel Presidente doesn't allow that girl back? I'm sure it's for a reason. Just be careful young one!

I did wonder. She claimed her ex-boyfriend works there and put her on the black list, but Im kind of suspicious as it seems EVERY girl who isnt allowed there claims they have an ex boyfriend who works there!

None the less, I trust her. Maybe she did do something to be banned, maybe she does have a boyfriend there, who knows. I believe in the second chance rule, and if I get burned for using it then I suppose its my fault eh

If taking a cab, you can also refer to it as Hotel Casino Morazon to avoid the confucion with the B & B.

Advantages - they don't have a chica limit and it's a short crawl from the KL or DR.

Other points noted previously are valid.

I stay in there mini suite when in town....65.00 a night for a very nice
room. Never had a problem with a reservation.Compared to the small
suite at the DR [100.00] I think it's a good deal.

I stayed at the Morazan two times and would stay there again in a heartbeat. The outside of the building looks rundown but the rooms are pretty decent (not much of a difference from the rooms at the Del Rey). I never had a problem with my reservation (came in late both times and just gave them my confirmation number and no problem) I would recommend the place based on location and price alone. You can walk out the back door of Key Largo and right into the Morazan (No chica fee and no limit). Single rooms will run you $40 tax included and good deals on suites. All rooms are modern.

Good Sports Book on second floor.

Here's the contact information (Just get a confirmation number when you book):

Fax: (506) 222-4722

Just out of curiosity, how many people here have actually had problems THEMSELVES with reservations rather than just hearing about such problems from others AND if they've had problems with their reservations how long ago was it, how many times did it happen out of how many times staying there and did they have any other complaints such as about the room quality? So far, we've heard from a number of defenders of the Morazon, but no complaints from anyone who actually has stayed there. I'm convinced this reputation is mostly a gross exaggeration if not even just an urban legend.

Incidentally, I've never had any problem with my own reservations there and it wasn't because like certain people who won't be named that I was a regular that got some sort of special mafiosa treatment. I don't get to go to CR every month like some of you guys and have only stayed at the Morazon 2-3 times, the last being a couple of years ago. However, that was around the same time as the complaints about its reservation system were at their height (those since seem mainly to be a constant re-telling)The reason I moved had nothing to do with any problem with that hotel. The only personal issue with the Morazon that I ever had was its over-anxious elevator door that used to crush the unprepared and slow of foot (and which I believe has since been fixed).

No worse then when I was at the Pres, the "main" elevator was broken with my chica stuck in my room.

So here I am trying to figure a way up to the 7th floor, when finally the front desk guy takes me up through the 6th ( on the lift style elevator ) and then unlocks the gym doors and lets me go through there. Man, if I would have paid her up front I think my hour would been gone.

I walked up to the desk with two Chicas. Ten dollars each and the room was for two hours. 20. total. The maid was cleaning up when we got there. Nice room with full bath. The chicas left there papers at the desk. And the desk guys and Chicas got along fine. I could'nt understand a word. But everybody was happy and an hour later so was I. That was one of the experinces where the not so hot freind was alot more fun.

Room, rates, and location are just fine. Service and food (especially room service if they still attempt it) are terrible. Morazon was my hotel of choice for a couple of years of visiting until I decided to move here. The Junior Suites,as one gentleman mentioned, are very nice especially for the money. (I always stayed in them)

Not lazy to use the search function but, is there a way around this 16% tax? Also what is the damage for this hotel. The website doesn't mention it and I seem to run across rates on this forum somewhere around 35-50 bucks. I'm sure during green season (my season) is cheaper but, is it acutally 35 bucks for a standard 2 bed. That tax is sure steep though. I'm looking to stay in the STD rooms. Also are there like a 2 br suite around in the hotel. THanks.

Here's an E-Mail directly from the Morazan that I received the other day regarding an upcoming trip:

De: Hotel Costa Rica Morazan [mailto:info@costaricamorazan.com]
Enviado el: viernes, 23 de diciembre de 2005 7:58
Asunto: RE: RESERVATIONS

Sir

The rates are for a Single room $ 49 tax included and for the Junior $ 75 tax included

These are the current rates for the high season.

There are some hotels who will offer all inclusive rates. They usually want the payment for your stay in cash when you check-in.

Any time you pay by credit card in Costa Rica you can almost be guaranteed they will not discount the charge. The credit card processing fees are just to high to allow them to discount any further.

Would I be able to charge this room? At that rate with tax included.

thanks for the input DD, Its like that in most places i've been too. Discounts only applies to cash payments and not CC. I personally don't like carrying a lot of cash while aboard. Except in Asia, its safer out there than here.

The rates are for a Single room $ 49 tax included and for the Junior Suite $ 75 tax included. These are the current rates for the high season and yes that would be the total rate paying by credit card.

The rainy season you can get a single room for $40 tax included (payment by credit card).

Check out their website for different types of rooms and E-Mail them for more details:

I think I just found my next hotel. . I also would want to know if this is an urban legend about the reservations and the chicas fees. I'm still debating about going more of a downgrade also like an hostel but, thanks all. Very helpful.
