The beds need to be replaced and the televisions. The room I was in had no blinds on the window. No wi-fi and the safes need to be changed out to combination safes. Also get the safes off the floor and put them at eye level. It could be really nice but a lot of work.

Yeah....as I noted above....first order in "renovation" centers around bed and fiber optic internet being brought into the hotel....along with digital televisions. Don't count on hugh flat panels.....I personally live with with 42" flat panels....and that shall be the standard. There will be NO "penthouses"......my design is pretty much every room is quite similar. Each will also have mini split ductless a/c. screw ceiling fans. Offer has been submitted....waiting on ridiculous counter offer. It's a game....AND...it's CR.

IF I pull this off, there is NO CRT DISCOUNT that will be provided UNLESS......well......"special people" will understand the "or less aspect.....". Me and my group ain't funnin'. The real proof is in the pudding as to IF the real owner really and acutally wants to skate. Admin1 will be approached for possibilities. However, we'll seek to avoid the riff raff and that means it won't be SL like: No working chicas allowed to troll for business. NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Current mgmt. will be kept in place given Darren is so above board and beyond reproach it isn't even amusing.....although the morning breakfast shall be a bit modified.....; You get caught with dope on the place? Nobody will say or tell you diddly.....cept for that knock on your door. Go sniff El Perico elsewhere and light up over where.......; me and my group won't risk the risk, eh?

Our focus is and shall remain a private fiber optic into the hotel coupled with new beds and a "chop" here and a "chop" there. First things first. If you smell of being special.....NO ROOM AT THE INN! Great thing about CR, despite all the business headaches is a guy can get away with that shiit! hahahahahahahhahaahhahaha

We shall cater to the those who will appreciate it....that is....IF we can pull it off. A Craigs List advertisement = not a really serious advertisment. *shrug* :D :P

Due diligence would have to be overly thorough. If you could find a good professional building inspector, pay him whatever he asks, before you purchase. You could get killed with having structural, electrical or roofing issues.

Good luck Steve.

That place has been on the market for how long? So price is too high and they ain't budging much? Or inspection was scary, or, I know you have thought of all the rest.

Certainly.

However, bear in mind nothing's going to happen until the price/cost removes itself from scamland to actual value land. I doubt that happens.

I think the marketing plan of a possible new owner is a bit misguided. In business you can try to cater to a select group but in reality it will limit its possibility for success. The sportsman's has a perfect business
plan that seems to provide for a profitable business. A Sportsman's and HLH combination plan might be
better. If I was thinking of purchasing the Castillo I would never alienate the CRT since it is a main avenue of information on mongering. Giving up the potential of 35,000 customers. Who wants to be around a lot of guy's that have a corn cob up their ass thinking they are better than you. Ego's of that type would kill
the place because all the asshole's want to be where they can act like snob's. The bit about the TV's
and Internet is ridiculous.Hell if I wanted to play on the internet or watch TV I would stay home. Most monger's come to Costa Rica for what reason. ????? Guess the new potential owner has no idea. Loading up the place with Chica's that are honest and good provider's would be my first act of business. Secondly upgrading the rooms with good ventilation is good idea. You have heard the term location, location, location.
it is pu*sy, pu*sy, pu*sy that will determine the success of this particular establishment.

After thinking of the cost of renovation. It might be better to check and see if the hotel Santo Thomas might be purchased. Its rooms are excellent and the location is good. It would make a lot better commercial venue. The Hotel is semi Chica friendly and has a $15 chica fee, but only allows one chica.

Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to be in the hotel or restuarant business. It looks like a nightmare to me  There are too many moving parts and potential headaches. Moody customers, drunks, putas, overflowing toilets, bed bugs, unreliable employees, etc, etc. Steven, why would you want to own a business like this at this point in your life. Are you a sadist?

Darren makes running that place look so easy. Minor issues, that may cause drama at other gulch accommodations, are taken in stride and handled by the Castillo staff. Perhaps, a big reason that things work well at Castillo is its clientele... guys who are laid-back, take life one step at a time, and always manage to have fun in spite of "adversity." Hotel Castillo is what my expectations of lodging in Costa Rica should be, and it will remain my "home away from home" when staying in the gulch.

For the reasons BlueDevil and others gave, the Castillo doesn't need much help nor does Hotel Santo Tomas. Here's a venue in The Neighborhood that could use the help--Hotel Vesuvio.

But is what even more amusing is the thought that I would even consider purshasing ANYTHING in Costa Rica other than pasta at Soda Akropolis or overpriced poontang (thanks to the spending habits of the "A TEAM" or "Goodfellas" loser outfits! Not to mention the PROPINA habits of my good buddy Zunbake3~!!) And that's a fact Jack....... :P :P :P :P

Dude, you need to get over this obsession you have with a group of guys on this board. If you truly don't give a shit, you wouldn't take every opportunity to rag on them. Who cares what they do? Do CR your own way.
