Should mention that the Poseidon is right in the middle of town, while Claritas is up at the north end and feels kind of isolated. No that far from the Beatle Bar, though. Claritas might be the best beach bar in town, but a close 2nd would have to be the Bohio, which is a half block from the Poseidon and my personal favorite; it's reputed for the "afternoon shift", of course. I'm trying the Poseidon in late February, after having stayed at Morgan's Cove my two prior visits this year...

Stayed at Claritas last month, the bar is fun but as far as the rooms go, no way. Mold everywhere and the floor was so dirty I check out the next morning. I have stayed at some nasty places before but never a place like this. Go there in the evening by taxi and party but do NOT stay there. Just my experience, never again.

Peter-IDK the chica fees Poside or Claritas. The only places I have stayed in Jaco have no fees...

Thirdworld-Yea, the TALENT was niciccccee last year around super bowl! I will be there again this year, Feb 4th-8th Cant wait...

Peter-I neg it down to $1500, so not too bad a deal for 10 guys. Org wasnt much as issue, I sent the email out to 30 friends, first 10 guys that funded me there $700 were in...not too much hassle. Everything else is on them to figure out, transport, airline etc....

Poseidon is not on the beach but a half block away. Shit for view unless upstairs in the outdoor bar area. Another thing, the last time we stayed there,I booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and they went ahead and debited my card immediately for the total amount, 5 months out. I thought this sucked and told them so. They said most cr hotels do this. I guess i've been lucky cause this was a first for me. Claritas bar is nice and is located on the beach but a walk from the center of town. I like canciones del mar and the copa, both on the water and close to downtown.Mi dos centavos..

That has never happened to me in CR. I also would be pissed if they did that.

Anybody know the chances of walking in getting a room without a reservation on a Mon/Tue/Wed at the end of Feb? I'm sure the weekends are impossible, but don't know about mid week.

So did stay at Poseidon

Room was fine, property is nice, good restaurant, breakfast...pool was good. It is right near a couple of low rent hostel places--used by some visting Chicas--so you can "shop" sometimes right out front...so bit of a strange mix --which was fine by me....if you stay there---go to the 2nd hostel down towards the ocean and ask for "Chuckie" he will hook you up with what you want---chica--ask him about "Angie" aka Lola....very nice...

I have to say it was only sort of "chica friendly"....many guests not our type so some funny looks--also tried to charge me guest fees until I reminded them (again) of CRT membership so no guest fees

A far better choice over Clarita's or Poseidon would be the Hotel & Casino Cocal right in the middle of Jaco and on the beach. Very nice renovated rooms, great rates and now where the party is at!
