Kudos to them, at least the policy is clarified. That will save a lot of embarresment to the chicas and misunderstandings for us. I used to always stay there and would be happy to reccomend them to non mongers, although I could never understand why stay in the gulch vs. Escazu ect.

But its not, Mark - and certainly no "kudos" are in order - read Blueskies post - they are being totally slimey about it - seriously.

And to address your comment regarding Escazu, for years - maybe 8 - we always stayed at Pico Blanco, in San Antonio de Escazu - decent place, good rates, beautiful views, cool, clear air - but totally geographically undesirable if you plan to be in the gulch - the traffice 15 years ago was bad - today its terrible - but again, if you don't need or want to be downtown, its an option to be considered - just don't be surprised if many - an overwhelming majority - of CRTers pass on Escazu and stay downtown.

I must have missed something, I thought that the OP saying it was a done deal on the policy. As far as Escazu, was refering to non mongers which I would not generely group with crt members.

Does anybody really care? The majority of CRT'ers have boycotted that shithole for a couple of years now.

If in fact it is true about the ban then I think someone may care. Maybe one of the CRTs who havent boycotted the Prez has has a reservation in a few days from now. It would be fairly shitty to show up and find out the hard way.

At the risk of belaboring the point - they are going to tell you "its business as usual" - but its not - that was the point of Bluesky's post - they will not own up to a change - and if you bring in a guest that has not previously been there (gotta be at least 2 in Costa Rica  ) - they can go up - but the next time, or if they have EVER been there before - they cannot.

Management has clairifed NOTHING - and as I previously posted, are being slimey about it - the guy that did was Bluesky - he should get the "kudos" - not the Prez' management.

I agree, the prez is wrong.
I have stayed there many times. Spent lots of $$$$
Admit it & be honest with everyone.
The blacklist had gotten pretty ridiculous this last year but this new deal is b.s.

Lots of guys got blindsided by the days inn when they went from no chica fee to $25.
He'll, I would go broke.
And what's amazing is the days inn is next to the dr.

Phuck the days inn & prez.
Plenty of other places to stay.

With the u.s. Economy in the state it is in and seems to be heading last just see who the last hotel is left in business. My money is on the sl, hlh & next owners of Di.
Americans can leave w /o seeing monkeys & birds but by golly we will spend our last dime for a hot chica,

And that's all I have to say.

I stopped staying there for several reasons, mostly their consistent/inconsistence on the chica rules, and the pricing B/S. I'm not suprised at all about the total baring of chicas. It was just a matter of time. Its' nice place, but I try and not even eat there out of protest. Now that it is a No Chica Zone, I would recommend it to my friends who travel with their families.
AND YES, some guys know nothing of courtesy and discretion when flaunting thier exploits, particularly in the restaurant.

Rover - Sleep Inn, right? - not Days Inn

(Another place that has the potential to be a contender...... But with their policies, probably not)

It may be the Sleep Inn.
I've never stayed there but had friends that do and w/o notice they started charging a high chica fee. If memory serves me it's like $25. That would add up quick.

Rover....it's the Sleep Inn not the Days Inn. It is owned by Shelby (owner of Casino Colonial),along with a group of investers. I don't know where you got your info on chica fees there because they have had chica fees in the $25-35 range from the day they opened. A main purpose of opening the hotel was to be able to adhere to one of the dumb CR rules that say a casino must have an attached hotel of at least 85 rooms. (unsure of number) Most people think the overhang between the hotel and the casino is so people won't get wet walking between them. However the reason it's there is that they must be ATTACHED.

I, like many others, don't stay at the prez anymore, but i have fond memories.
10 years ago when i started coming to CR, the prez was the place. on my first trip i was in the elevator with an "old" guy who was taking 2 chicas up to his room and we were laughing for no reason. i smile now thinking how it was with so many gringo's makiong the walk of shame from the prez to the DR.
alot has changed in 10 years. 10 years ago it was hard to fing a chica that spoke any english at all, now most speak some.
how about before everyone having cell phones and there were the big banks of pay phones all over the place with people waiting in line to use them.

You are refering to the Hotel Presidente, correct? (vs the Sleep Inn)

They are guilty of the "sin of omission" - no matter what they wrote you, the policy has changed - they just are not owning up to it. Again, just a slimey way to do business, and totally dishonest. Can't be a little pregnant - WTF they just don't come out and say it is beyond me
