I too was at both parties, the free food and 2 for 1 drinks at HLH were great. I talked to Joe a bit the day before and he gave me a tour of the newer rooms. He also gave a few of us a round of free drinks and picked up a round of shots. I thought the atmosphere was more festive (even that non party day) than it had been at HLH for a long time going back to the Zona Blue pre-handicap access ramp days.

I would encourage Joe keep up the good work, I like his changes, and I like his future plans for the place.

Although free food is great, its not how I judge a Halloween party. I don't think it bested ANY of the parties I've attended at the Sportsmens.

If the beer was warm. it's time to get real festive and drink it CR-style: in a glass con hielo. There, problem solved--always glad to be of service.
I'm glad HLH's new ownership has put them back in the game, not least because it's a downhill drunken stumble to my hotel venue of choice--the--what, I really gotta say it?

Being one of the more out spoken members who clearly favors SL and always will suggest staying there, I always enjoy any post that suspiciously slights the lodge.

In the years that I have been here each time this happens, before the first page is full it becomes a testimonial as to why the SL continues to be the #1 hotel in San Jose. Get ready Billy boy, we'll be there in masses come February..

I don`t know who had the best party. The the main point is the HLH is a lot more customer friendly. I `m` sure I`ll visit HLH next trip and take a chica for a spin and see if the tipping problem is fixed. I at one time loved this place until the tipping got out of hand.
