The place looks great as expected looking forward to many years of the new scene.8)

Btw, there's 2 new urinals that are always open going back towards the club house section...

they have two public bathrooms off the original lobby, on your left as you enter....right?

There is a big bathroom on the left as you walk into the reception area. It was redone last year. A handicap ramp and a large sliding door was installed during the raids last year to accommodate the numerous handicapped patrons they have.

It is not small, pretty clean, and there is usually paper towels, unlike other places I've seen around town.

If I am not mistaken the bathrooms going to the clubhouse section are marked as hotel guest only.

I was shocked to see the new bar, but did spend Halloween there. I noticed:

Service was better. The bartends could service the courtyard and bar tables better, and the bar takes up the open area. It still has the big screen in the courtyard. Viewing the courtyard from the bar is better.

Congestion in the bar area is reduced.

All in all it seems to aliviate many of the congestion problems.

Are there still some sofas there in the front? By the 7th day of partying, I do find them handy.

Yes, still sofas around front to catch those passing out when they leave the bar. You can almost play hide-n-seek the bar so grand. You can duck to the side of the bar if you see an ice queen coming looking to chop your freshly shaven balls.. :D

I really like the small private bar in back. I assume it is still there? If so I hope it is open more than two nights per week like it was during my last stay a few weeks ago.

Dude, I have enjoyed many a Corona at the SportsMan Lodge. They taste good to me but I never leave here so I probably wouldn't remember what ones in the states taste like.

One time Bill came to my defense and told the girls that I wasn't being picky when I asked them to clean the top of the bottle before they dipped it salt, CR style.

Butt.. I do have an idea of what you mean. Once I was at an "All Inclusive" hotel in Cancun Mexico and they gave us Corona out of big bottles and it tasted weird.

So I don't know if its a Costa Rica thing but I'm sure Bills on top of it to serve the best product he can here.

All inclusive means all included, crap.

I have always heard that beer in clear bottles goes skunky faster that in bottles of color. That would include Corona, Miller High Life, and the Corona imitators like Barena and Caguana. That might be urban myth, but a beer distributor buddy assures me it is true. I would think that at SL, the beer turnover for Corona would be rapid, but if it is left in the heat for awhile it could turn polecat.

No offense Bros but why drink Mexican beer in Costa Rica when they make good ones there? Corona is OK but greatly oversold, but then I don't get the mystique about Rocky Mountain piwa (Coors) either.

Because I spend hundreds and thousands of dollars to fly to a foreign country to get laid doesn't mean I should have to give up my gringo creature comforts, preferred brands and habits, darn it all to heck!!!

:P :P :P

Jazz, gotta go against ya hear.. The local beer is some of the poorest of any country I've travelled to. IMO Love that Presidente in the DR. Imperial and Pilsen have lots of impurities also. Nothing scientific, but I can get a shitty feeling/ slight hangover the next day when I didn't even have a buzz. I drink Heinekin, not the real thing, when I do drink beer. Bavaria Dark not bad. In the super markets and liquor stores they have a fairly good selection of Belgium beers and others. They even have Old Milwaukee, haha.

I don't drink beer but hear many guys rave about DR's ice cold Presidente, must be good stuff...one guy claimed he traveled to DR just for the beer, the women and beach were a bonus.
